TL;DR: In this paper, the amplitude-frequency response curves of the parametric resonances and their frequency characteristics were investigated through numerical simulations, and it was shown that several motions can take place in the region of combination resonance, including quasiperiodic and combined periodic motions.

TL;DR: In this article, the basic impairment mechanisms in fiber parametric devices are analyzed in one-and two-pump parametric amplifier architectures. And the experimental procedures necessary for construction of one and two-Pump Parametric Amplifier architectures are described.
Abstract: Fundamentals of parametric processing in highly nonlinear optical fiber are reviewed. Experimental procedures necessary for construction of one- and two-pump parametric amplifier architectures are described. Pump phase broadening, dispersion fluctuation and birefringence form basic impairment mechanisms in fiber parametric devices and are analyzed in two-pump parametric devices. Parametric signal processing is introduced with specific applications in all-optical regeneration, band conjugation, multicasting, packet switching and signal distortion reversal.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of viscoelasticity on free vibration and stability of axially moving beam constrained by simple supports with torsion springs were investigated. But the authors focused on the stability of the axial speed of the beam.
Abstract: Vibration and stability are investigated for an axially moving beam constrained by simple supports with torsion springs. A scheme is proposed to derive natural frequencies and modal functions from given boundary conditions of an elastic beam moving at a constant speed. For a beam constituted by the Kelvin model, effects of viscoelasticity on the free vibration are analyzed via the method of multiple scales and demonstrated via numerical simulations. When the axial speed is characterized as a simple harmonic variation about the constant mean speed, the instability conditions are presented for axially accelerating viscoelastic beams in parametric resonance. Numerical examples show the effects of the constraint stiffness, the mean axial speed, and the viscoelasticity.

TL;DR: In this article, a quantum-limited parametric amplifier based on an array of superconducting nonlinear asymmetric inductive elements is proposed to handle large input signals without sacrificing other desirable characteristics.
Abstract: Quantum-limited Josephson parametric amplifiers are a key component in many precision microwave measurement setups, such as for the readout of superconducting qubits in a quantum computer. As qubit setups scale up, these amplifiers must be optimized to handle input signals of ever-larger power. The authors design a quantum-limited parametric amplifier based on an array of superconducting nonlinear asymmetric inductive elements. This ``SNAIL'' is optimized to handle large input signals without sacrificing other desirable characteristics. The method can be extended to improve all forms of parametrically induced mixing in quantum information applications.
