TL;DR: The results show the performance of the instrument can make a fast and correct diagnosis of the health state of insulation systems, and being non-intrusive is one of the most relevant features of the sensor.
Abstract: The presence of a partial discharge phenomenon in an electrical apparatus is a warning signal that could determine the failure of the insulation system, terminating the service of the apparatus and/or the network. In this paper, an innovative partial discharge (PD) measurement instrument based on an antenna sensor is presented and analyzed. Being non-intrusive is one of the most relevant features of the sensor. The frequency response of the antenna sensor and the features to recognize different PD sources and automatically synchronize them with the supply voltage are described and discussed in details. The results show the performance of the instrument can make a fast and correct diagnosis of the health state of insulation systems.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of various levels of nitrogen impurity on the electrical performance of an atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge in helium was investigated, and it was shown that flat and broad current profiles performed the best in ionizing the discharge and use the least amount of power per generated charged particle.
Abstract: In this letter, we investigate the effect of various levels of nitrogen impurity on the electrical performance of an atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge in helium. We illustrate the different current profiles that are obtained, which exhibit one or more discharge pulses per half cycle and evaluate their performance in ionizing the discharge and dissipating the power. It is shown that flat and broad current profiles perform the best in ionizing the discharge and use the least amount of power per generated charged particle.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a technical brochure for non-conventional electromagnetic and acoustical PD detection methods, which is intended as a guideline for engineers dealing with conventional electrical PD measurements.
Abstract: rent standard IEC 60270, WG D1.33 “High-Voltage Testing and Measuring Techniques” decided the edition of a Technical Brochure, which is intended as a guideline for engineers dealing with conventional electrical PD measurements. In this context it should be noted that currently the new standard IEC 62478 is under preparation, which covers non-conventional electromagnetic and acoustical PD detection methods. These topics, however, are outside of the scope of this brochure.

TL;DR: In this paper, the dielectric conditions of converter transformers and smoothing reactors are examined and two additional tests are recommended for this equipment -a long term dc applied potential test and a polarity reversal test.
Abstract: The dielectric conditions which are unique to converter transformers and smoothing reactors are examined. Both steady state and transient situations are discussed. Two additional tests are recommended for this equipment - a long term dc applied potential test and a polarity reversal test. Formulae are developed to calculate proposed test levels, and guidelines are presented concerning allowable partial discharge levels during the tests.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present an electrical safety diagnosis system and apparatus which use a U-city integrated information network to preemptively perform checking and analyses for potential electrically-induced disasters that can occur in public facilities, stores, buildings, and homes within a U city, by means of an integrated information center, and prevent electrical fires or shocks at the electrical equipment of switchboards or distribution boards.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electrical safety diagnosis system and apparatus, which are configured to enable sensed data on user surroundings in a U-city environment, such as electrical safety data for switchboards and distribution boards, and water leakages, faulty outlet connections, etc., to be managed remotely by a server at a U-city integrated information center. In particular, the present invention relates to an electrical safety diagnosis system and apparatus which use a U-city integrated information network to preemptively perform checking and analyses for potential electrically-induced disasters that can occur in public facilities, stores, buildings, and homes within a U-city, by means of a U-city integrated information center, and prevent electrical fires or shocks at the electrical equipment of switchboards or distribution boards, and dangerous conditions (such as water leakages, abnormal temperatures, gas, and faulty outlet connections) in facilities used by users. The remote electrical safety diagnosis system of the present invention comprises: a digital switchboard including the functions of checking electrical equipment in a switchboard room using a contactless arc sensor and a partial discharge sensor on a power line, to diagnose the safety of the electrical equipment, diagnosing an arc or partial discharge in a detected waveform and storing the diagnosed data, and transmitting the diagnosed data to a higher level server; and a digital distribution board including a main circuit breaker and a partial circuit breaker, for checking an AC voltage or current input through the power line, storing the checked data, and transmitting the diagnosed data to the higher level server.
