TL;DR: In this article, a long time optical recording and repeated reproduction of multimedia information is possible using a printer system or printing process system, on a recording medium such as a sheet, the so-caled multimedia information in the form of dot codes (36) together with images (32) and characters (34) is recorded.
Abstract: A long time optical recording and repeated reproduction of multimedia information is possible. Using a printer system or printing process system, on a recording medium such as a sheet, the so-caled multimedia information in the form of dot codes (36) together with images (32) and characters (34) is recorded. The multimedia information includes audio information such as voices, image information obtainable from a camera and others, and digitally coded data obtainable from a personal computer and others. A pen-like information reproducing device (40) is manually moved to scan the dot codes (36) and to take in the dot codes. The original sound is generated by a voice output device (42) such as an earphone, the original image information is outputted on a display such as a CRT, and the digitally coded original data to a page printer or the like.

TL;DR: In this article, a solution method based on Tikhonov regularization together with the computer program FTIKREG is presented, which leads to much better results, because the error of the result depends mainly on the regularization parameter.

TL;DR: Acuchem is a program for solving the system of differential equations describing the temporal behavior of spatially homogeneous, isothermal, multicomponent chemical reaction systems and for presenting the results in tabular or graphical form.
Abstract: Acuchem is a program for solving the system of differential equations describing the temporal behavior of spatially homogeneous, isothermal, multicomponent chemical reaction systems. It is designed to provide modelers, data evaluators, and laboratory scientists with an easy to use program for modeling complex chemical reactions, and for presenting the results in tabular or graphical form. The program is described and some examples of its application given. Acuchem is designed to operate on the IBM Personal Computer family and other compatible microcomputers, and is available in a compiled version on a floppy disk.

TL;DR: It is shown that a simple content-based classifier with minimal training is efficient enough to rank the “spamminess” of every page in the ClueWeb09 dataset using a standard personal computer in 48 hours, and effective enough to yield significant and substantive improvements in the fixed-cutoff precision as well as rank measures of nearly all submitted runs.
Abstract: The TREC 2009 web ad hoc and relevance feedback tasks used a new document collection, the ClueWeb09 dataset, which was crawled from the general web in early 2009. This dataset contains 1 billion web pages, a substantial fraction of which are spam--pages designed to deceive search engines so as to deliver an unwanted payload. We examine the effect of spam on the results of the TREC 2009 web ad hoc and relevance feedback tasks, which used the ClueWeb09 dataset. We show that a simple content-based classifier with minimal training is efficient enough to rank the "spamminess" of every page in the dataset using a standard personal computer in 48 hours, and effective enough to yield significant and substantive improvements in the fixed-cutoff precision (estP10) as well as rank measures (estR-Precision, StatMAP, MAP) of nearly all submitted runs. Moreover, using a set of "honeypot" queries the labeling of training data may be reduced to an entirely automatic process. The results of classical information retrieval methods are particularly enhanced by filtering--from among the worst to among the best.

TL;DR: In this paper, an electronic reading system is disclosed which allows users to download books and other types of content to a hand-held reader device for viewing, and titles are then automatically transferred to the device when the device is placed in a cradle which is connected to the PC.
Abstract: An electronic reading system is disclosed which allows users to download books and other types of content to a hand-held reader device for viewing. Using software which runs on a personal computer (PC), the user can download titles from Internet sites to the PC. Titles are then automatically transferred to the device when the device is placed in a cradle which is connected to the PC. Using the device's touch-sensitive display and graphical user interface, the user can access various software-implemented features associated with the display and management of the content. One feature is a user-definable hotkey that can be “dragged and dropped” onto a menu item to create a shortcut to that item. Another feature allows the user to tap twice on a displayed word to cause the device to look the word up in a pre-specified or default reference title, such as a dictionary or an encyclopedia. Another feature allows the user to block a passage on the touch-sensitive display and then specify one or more destinations (email addresses, file folders, fax numbers, printers, etc.) for routing the passage; when the device is subsequently placed in the cradle, the passage is automatically retrieved by the PC and routed to the specified destination(s). The device also implements a user interface feature for allowing the user to rapidly and conveniently adjust the orientation of the displayed title.
