TL;DR: In this paper, a multipurpose computerized television system generates a plurality of video images in association with a personal computer and an audio multimedia circuit also communicates the audio multimedia data to the personal computer.
Abstract: A multipurpose computerized television system generates a plurality of video images in association with a personal computer. A television circuit associates with the personal computer and is within the personal computer chassis for receiving a plurality of television signals and directing the signals to the monitor for the monitor to display. An audio multimedia circuit associates with the personal computer and the television circuit and is also located within the chassis for receiving and processing audio data from the television circuit. The audio multimedia circuit also communicates the audio multimedia data to the personal computer. Control circuitry associated with the television circuit and the personal computer within the chassis controls the operation of the television circuit through the personal computer. The control circuitry comprises a remote control circuit for remotely and independently controlling the television circuit and the personal computer.

TL;DR: In this article, a modification to a scheduling program is disclosed that allows event reminders to be sent via the telephone network, which allows for the event reminder to be received by the user whether he/she is local to his/her personal computer or not.
Abstract: A modification to a scheduling program is disclosed that allows event reminders to be sent via the telephone network. If a reminder is required, a telephone session is initiated between the computer in which the scheduling program is operating and the user's telephone station. Next, an event reminder is converted from a text format to an audible format with use of a text-to-voice converter and sent to the user's telephone station in order to be heard by the user. This allows for the event reminders to be received by the user whether he/she is local to his/her personal computer or not. A further modification to a scheduling program is disclosed that allows event reminders to be sent in series using a variety of different reminder techniques. If a first attempt to send a reminder to the user fails, a second attempt using a different technique, such as a different telephone directory number, is initiated.

TL;DR: Firm profitability in this industry apparently benefits from new product introductions because new products need less marketing support than older products, and firms decrease their advertising intensity in the wake of a new product introduction.
Abstract: Based on data from firms in the personal computer industry, we study the effect of new product introductions on three key drivers of firm value: profit rate, profit-rate persistence, and firm size as reflected in asset growth. Consistent with our theoretical development, we find that new product introductions influence profit rate and size; however, we find no effect on profit-rate persistence. Interestingly, we also find that the effect of new product introductions on profit rate stems from a reduction in selling and general administrative expenditure intensity rather than through an increase in gross operating return. Notably, firms decrease their advertising intensity in the wake of a new product introduction. Firm profitability in this industry apparently benefits from new product introductions because new products need less marketing support than older products.

TL;DR: A newly developed multi-function video image analysis system for the computer-aided evaluation of capillaroscopic findings in microcirculation research makes it possible not only to measure numerous morphological parameters such as capillary diameter, length, torquation index and capillary density, but also to perform video densitometric analysis, for example using fluorescent dyes.
Abstract: We describe a newly developed multi-function video image analysis system for the computer-aided evaluation of capillaroscopic findings in microcirculation research. The Cap image analysis system comprises an IBM-compatible PC with a Matrox image processing card and real-time video tape digitalization. The video recorder is driven by a personal computer to which it is connected via an RS-232 interface. In contrast to currently available systems, the program presented here makes it possible to select any of several integrated image analysis functions, depending on the quality of the video image. Some examples of the analysis functions available are measurements of erythrocyte flow velocity using the line shift diagram method, the spatial correlation method, and the auto flying spot method. The standard features of the new program include a number of special functions and automatic movement correction. The system thus makes it possible not only to measure numerous morphological parameters such as capillary diameter, length, torquation index and capillary density, but also to perform video densitometric analysis, for example using fluorescent dyes.

TL;DR: The use of barrier-engineered materials and gate all-around structure in the 3D V-NAND cell exhibits advantages over 1 × nm planar NAND, such as small Vth shift due to small cell coupling and narrow natural Vth distribution.
Abstract: In the past few years, various 3D NAND Flash memories have been demonstrated, from device feasibility to chip implementation, to overcome scaling challenges in conventional planar NAND Flash [1-3]. The difficulties include shrinking the NAND cell and increasing manufacturing costs due to quadruple patterning and extreme ultraviolet lithography, motivating the development of the next-generation node beyond 16nm-class NAND Flash [4]. In this paper, as a new 3D memory device with lower manufacturing cost and superior device scalability, we present a true 3D 128Gb 2b/cell vertical-NAND (V-NAND) Flash. The chip accomplishes 50MB/s write throughput with 3K endurance for typical embedded applications such as mobile and personal computer. Also, extended endurance of 35K is achieved with 33MB/s of write throughput for data center and enterprise SSD applications.
