TL;DR: In this article, a custom playlist to be played by a digital audio/visual actuator device can be easily created and modified through use of an effective human interface on an external device, such as a personal computer.
Abstract: A custom playlist to be played by a digital audio/visual actuator device may be easily created and modified through use of an effective human interface on an external device, such as a personal computer. Tracks, easily identifiable by their track index identifier and the TOC of the digital storage device on which they are stored, are selected by the user or by an automated method and added to a playlist file. Once the playlist is created, the playlist file is stored to non-volatile memory of the digital audio/visual actuator device. The playlist may then be easily modified if so desired by performing such functions as adding tracks, deleting tracks, and rearranging tracks of the playlist through the interface of the external device. The playlist may be played by the digital audio/visual actuator device at any time after it has been created and the digital audio/visual actuator device may be controlled by a remote control unit to actuate the playlist if so desired.

TL;DR: In this paper, the reception processing device of the order receiver stores the digital image data and relating print order data, and commands a digital printer to make prints from the digital images in accordance with the printed order data.
Abstract: According to the method and system of the present invention, digital image data is input in a personal computer, through an image input device. The order sender processes the image data with reference to a display on the screen of the personal computer, and then inputs print order data. The print order data includes print option data designating size and number of prints, expected delivery date data, delivery option data designating the way of delivery, and user ID data for identifying the order sender. Then an order receiver or a particular photofinisher is designated. The processed digital image data and the print order data are sent to the designated photofinisher. The reception processing device of the order receiver stores the digital image data and relating print order data, and commands a digital printer to make prints from the digital image data in accordance with the print order data.

TL;DR: In this paper, a user's personal computer can be turned into a personal network server for easily sharing personal digital information (200) with other people using a wide variety of devices.
Abstract: A user's personal computer (101) can be turned into a personal network server (103) for easily sharing personal digital information (200) with other people using a wide variety of devices. There are a variety of alternative ways in which such file sharing on the user's computer can be implemented, such as with a client-side server approach, a hosted server approach, and an automated publish approach. Depending upon a variety of factors, the requested shared data may be intelligently and dynamically transformed to better fit the requesting party's needs. Programming interfaces are available to third parties that allow for access to the shared data and for providing customized instructions on what to do when transforming the data.

TL;DR: In this paper, a multiple-discrete choice model for the analysis of demand of differentiated products is proposed. But the model does not consider multiple-unit as well as multiple-brand purchases.
Abstract: This paper develops a multiple-discrete choice model for the analysis of demand of differentiated products. Users maximize profits by choosing the number of units of each brand they purchase. Multiple-unit as well as multiple-brand purchases are allowed. These two features distinguish this model from classical discrete choice models which consider only a single choice among mutually exclusive alternatives. Model parameters are estimated using the simulated method of moments technique. Both requirements - microfoundations and estimability -are imposed in order to exploit the available micro level data on personal computer purchases. The estimated demand structure is used to assess welfare gains from computerization and technological innovation in peripherals industries. The estimated return on investment in computers is 90%. Moreover, a 10% increase in the performance to price ratio of microprocessors leads to a 4% gain in the estimated end user surplus.

TL;DR: In this article, a probe with four anemometric sensors and four gas sensors has been developed so that the direction of an odor source can be determined using a wind tunnel environment.
Abstract: A new method for localization of an odor source is proposed. A probe with four anemometric sensors and four gas sensors has been developed so that the direction of an odor source can be determined. The anemometric sensors are used for measuring the direction of the air flow carrying odor molecules, and the gas sensors are used for detecting the gas-concentration gradient. Moreover, mounting the probe on a mobile stage with the probe under the control of a personal computer makes it possible to realize an autonomous mobile sensing system. An odor source has been successfully localized using this system in a wind tunnel.
