TL;DR: In this article, a wavefront correction system using a phase conjugating method based on a point diffraction interferometer, or Zernike cell, was produced using an optically addressed liquid crystal spatial light modulator, which was also relatively easy to align, and insensitive to tip/tilt errors.

TL;DR: In this article, the degenerate four-wave mixing in photorefractive GaAs was performed by phase conjugation, edge enhancement, and autocorrelation, and the results showed that undoped, semi-insulating, liquid-encapsulated Czochralski-grown GaAs crystals can be used as effective optical processing media despite their small electro-optic coefficient.
Abstract: Three image processing experiments were performed by degenerate four‐wave mixing in photorefractive GaAs. The experiments were imaging by phase conjugation, edge enhancement, and autocorrelation. The results show that undoped, semi‐insulating, liquid‐encapsulated Czochralski‐grown GaAs crystals can be used as effective optical processing media despite their small electro‐optic coefficient.

TL;DR: In this article, an unexpected fast response (35 ms) of beam fanning was measured in a fiber-like photorefractive sample of Bi/sub 12/TiO/sub 20/ (BTO) crystal.
Abstract: Unexpectedly fast response (35 ms) of beam fanning has been measured in a fiber-like photorefractive sample of Bi/sub 12/TiO/sub 20/ (BTO) crystal. Nonlinear interaction between different directions of fanned beams is responsible for unusual angular distribution of the fanning emerged from the fiber that can be used for double phase-conjugate mirror (DPCM) recording with higher efficiency in a wider range of the pump's incidence than in a bulk sample. The DPCM with conversion efficiency up to 8% has been recorded in the BTO fiber at /spl lambda/=632.8 nm for a 2/spl times/3 mW input light power. Practically, it means that no adjustment is needed to achieve an effective interaction of mutually incoherent beams, except introducing the pump beam into the fiber. >

TL;DR: By utilizing large-divergence, mutually phase-conjugate pump beams provided by a self-pumped BaTiO(3) crystal, high-fidelity phase conjugation with high reflectivity in Bi(12)SiO(20) is demonstrated.
Abstract: Wide-angle, large space–bandwidth-product coherent image amplification with a flat spatial frequency response is demonstrated in photorefractive Bi12SiO20 crystals under nonstationary grating recording conditions. By utilizing large-divergence, mutually phase-conjugate pump beams provided by a self-pumped BaTiO3 crystal, high-fidelity phase conjugation with high reflectivity in Bi12SiO20 is demonstrated.
