TL;DR: In this article, the role of linear absorption as well as all the coupling mechanisms and their competition in the wave mixing process was examined numerically and it was found that multigrating operation with accidental values of coupling constants leads to a decrease in the efficiency of the process.
Abstract: Multigrating optical phase conjugation in photorefractive media in the case of pump depletion and for arbitrary relationships among different coupling strengths is studied numerically. The role of linear absorption as well as the role of all the coupling mechanisms and their competition in the wave mixing process is examined. It is found that multigrating operation with accidental values of coupling constants leads to a decrease in the efficiency of the process. It is also shown that the presence of absorption, which is in principle detrimental, sometimes exerts a beneficial influence on multigrating phase conjugation.

TL;DR: In this article, a theory of degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) of arbitrary polarized waves in an anisotropic optically active photorefractive crystal using the method of coupled waves, a system of differential equations is deduced describing the coupling process.
Abstract: A theory is presented of degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) of arbitrary polarized waves in an anisotropic optically active photorefractive crystal. Using the method of coupled waves, a system of differential equations is deduced describing the coupling process. This system is specified to DFWM in crystals of the Bi/sub 12/GeO/sub 20/-type and numerically solved based on the shooting method. Some peculiarities of phase conjugation in these crystal are discussed. >

TL;DR: It is shown that the reflection from a phase-conjugate mirror does not exhibit a Doppler shift in frequency, and the physical basis for this phenomenon is discussed, and it has been verified experimentally by using four-wave mixing with photorefractive Bi(12)SiO(20) (BSO) in aphase- Conjugate Michelson interferometer.
Abstract: It is shown that the reflection from a phase-conjugate mirror does not exhibit a Doppler shift in frequency. The physical basis for this phenomenon is discussed, and it has been verified experimentally by using four-wave mixing with photorefractive Bi(12)SiO(20) (BSO) in a phase-conjugate Michelson interferometer. The same measurement is also used to determine the response time of the nonlinear material to moving spatial holograms. This response time is 7.3 msec in BSO.

TL;DR: In this article, a comparison between CARS and Degenerate Four-Wave Mixing experiments on OH is performed in a premixed CH4-air flame, and the relative properties of these two configurations are experimentally investigated from the study of the P and Q branches of the (O−O) band.
Abstract: A comparison between CARS and Degenerate Four-Wave Mixing experiments on OH is performed in a premixed CH4-air flame. Both optical phase conjugation and forward BOXCARS geometries are studied in DFWM. The relative properties of these two configurations are experimentally investigated from the study of theP andQ branches of the (O−O) band.
