TL;DR: In this paper, a guide to the techniques for nonlinearity compensation in a fiber-optic communication link based on optical phase conjugation is presented. But the authors do not consider the nonlinearities compensation of amplitude-modulated and phase modulated signals.
Abstract: This article is intended as a guide to the techniques for nonlinearity compensation in a fiber-optic communication link based on optical phase conjugation. In the first part, the basics of the phase conjugation process are illustrated from both a mathematical and physical point of view. Then, the more commonly used devices for optical phase conjugation are described, with particular attention to the devices based on periodically poled lithium niobate waveguides. Subsequently, the applications of optical phase conjugation to the nonlinearity compensation of amplitude-modulated and phase-modulated signals are analyzed.

TL;DR: Nonlinear Optics in Signal Processing as mentioned in this paper provides a comprehensive review of this expanding area and discusses the likely direction of future research, as well as the applications of nonlinear optical processing in a range of areas including switching, computing, and telecommunications.
Abstract: Nonlinear Optics in Signal Processing: This covers the applications of nonlinear optics to optical processing in a range of areas including switching, computing, and telecommunications. Each chapter presents the physics behind optical interactions between light and a range of materials and then examines the applications of the effects discussed. The book provides a comprehensive review of this expanding area and discusses the likely direction of future research. Contents: Introduction. Nonlinearities in organic solids. Semiconductors. The photorefractive effect. Optical bistability. Optical processing using phase conjugation. Architectures for optical neural networks. Third order nonlinear guided-wave optical devices. Nonlinearity in optical fibre communications. Ultrashort pulses for nonlinear optical techniques.

TL;DR: An experimental investigation of phase conjugation and pulse compression by stimulated Raman scattering in methane gas using a narrow-linewidth KrF-laser pump is presented.
Abstract: An experimental investigation of phase conjugation and pulse compression by stimulated Raman scattering in methane gas using a narrow-linewidth KrF-laser pump is presented. Good spatial reproduction of the pump beam is observed at reflectivities of up to 80%. With a pump-pulse duration of 25 nsec, backward Stokes pulses of 5-nsec duration with 40% of the 100-mJ pump energy were obtained.

TL;DR: A scanning laser Doppler vibrometer is used to record two-dimensional ultrasound fields in air and digital reconstruction by use of phase conjugation (time reversal) of the object sound field is performed.
Abstract: A scanning laser Doppler vibrometer is used to record two-dimensional ultrasound fields in air. The laser light of the vibrometer traverses the sound field to and from a rigid reflector and determines the velocity field, a quantity proportional to the sound pressure rate, in each scanned point relative to the sound source. The object sound is the scattered field from objects outside the recording area. Digital reconstruction by use of phase conjugation (time reversal) of the object sound field is then performed, and the original object field intensity and phase is reconstructed.
