TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a transparent ZnO-based thin-film transistors (TFTs) for select-transistors in each pixel of an active-matrix liquid-crystal display.
Abstract: Highly transparent ZnO-based thin-film transistors (TFTs) are fabricated with optical transmission (including substrate) of ∼75% in the visible portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. Current–voltage measurements indicate n-channel, enhancement-mode TFT operation with excellent drain current saturation and a drain current on-to-off ratio of ∼107. Threshold voltages and channel mobilities of devices fabricated to date range from ∼10 to 20 V and ∼0.3 to 2.5 cm2/V s, respectively. Exposure to ambient light has little to no observable effect on the drain current. In contrast, exposure to intense ultraviolet radiation results in persistent photoconductivity, associated with the creation of electron-hole pairs by ultraviolet photons with energies greater than the ZnO band gap. Light sensitivity is reduced by decreasing the ZnO channel layer thickness. One attractive application for transparent TFTs involves their use as select-transistors in each pixel of an active-matrix liquid-crystal display.

TL;DR: The perovskite compound CsPbBr3 as mentioned in this paper is a direct band gap semiconductor which meets most of the requirements for successful detection of X and γ-ray radiation, such as high attenuation, high resistivity, and significant photoconductivity response, with detector resolution comparable to that of commercial, state-of-the-art materials.
Abstract: The synthesis, crystal growth, and structural and optoelectronic characterization has been carried out for the perovskite compound CsPbBr3. This compound is a direct band gap semiconductor which meets most of the requirements for successful detection of X- and γ-ray radiation, such as high attenuation, high resistivity, and significant photoconductivity response, with detector resolution comparable to that of commercial, state-of-the-art materials. A structural phase transition which occurs during crystal growth at higher temperature does not seem to affect its crystal quality. Its μτ product for both hole and electron carriers is approximately equal. The μτ product for electrons is comparable to cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) and that for holes is 10 times higher than CZT.

TL;DR: In this article, the open-circuit voltage of polymer:fullerene bulk heterojunction solar cells is investigated as a function of light intensity for different temperatures, and the observed photogenerated current and Voc are at variance with classical p-n junction-based models.
Abstract: The open-circuit voltage Voc of polymer:fullerene bulk heterojunction solar cells is investigated as a function of light intensity for different temperatures. Devices consisted of a blend of a poly(p-phenylene vinylene) derivative as the hole conductor and 6,6-phenyl C61-butyric acid methyl ester as the electron conductor. The observed photogenerated current and Voc are at variance with classical p–n junction-based models. The influence of light intensity and recombination strength on Voc is consistently explained by a model based on the notion that the quasi-Fermi levels are constant throughout the device, including both drift and diffusion of charge carriers.

TL;DR: The experimental photocurrents reveal all the characteristics of a space-charge limited photocurrent: a one-half power dependence on voltage, a three-quarter power dependent on light intensity, and a one half power scaling of the voltage at which the photocurrent switches into full saturation with light intensity.
Abstract: In 1971 Goodman and Rose predicted the occurrence of a fundamental electrostatic limit for the photocurrent in semiconductors at high light intensities. Blends of conjugated polymers and fullerenes are an ideal model system to observe this space-charge limit experimentally, since they combine an unbalanced charge transport, long lifetimes, high charge carrier generation efficiencies, and low mobility of the slowest charge carrier. The experimental photocurrents reveal all the characteristics of a space-charge limited photocurrent: a one-half power dependence on voltage, a three-quarter power dependence on light intensity, and a one-half power scaling of the voltage at which the photocurrent switches into full saturation with light intensity.
