TL;DR: This article found that the need to resolve an ambiguous noun phrase referent interacted with the obligatory/optional nature of verb arguments, and that the attachment decision was independent of whether the noun phrase was referentially ambiguous.

TL;DR: The distinction between myth and history is a tenuous one and it hardly requires elaborate documentation as mentioned in this paper. But this is a feature not only of non-literate societies, but also of literate societies.
Abstract: That the distinction between myth and history is a tenuous one hardly requires elaborate documentation. Anthropologists have recorded the way in which accounts of the tribal past, recorded in genealogies, change with the organisation of the social groups to which they refer. In Malinowski's phrase, they serve as the ‘mythical charters’ of the social system. But this is a feature not only of non-literate societies.

TL;DR: In this paper, various systems and methods of selecting a display language for a surgical instrument are disclosed. The surgical instrument includes a handle assembly and a module, such as a shaft assembly, that is interchangeably connectable to the handle assembly.
Abstract: Various systems and methods of selecting a display language for a surgical instrument are disclosed. The surgical instrument includes a handle assembly and a module, such as a shaft assembly, that is interchangeably connectable to the handle assembly. The handle assembly includes a first memory configured to store a language parameter and a control circuit that is operably coupled to the memory. The module includes a second memory configured to store a textual phrase in a plurality of languages. When the module and the handle assembly are connected together, the control circuit is configured to retrieve, from the second memory, the textual phrase in a language corresponding to the language parameter.

TL;DR: In this article, a method and a computer system for enhanced part-of-speech tagging as well as grammatically disambiguating a phrase is described. But this method is limited to a single phrase.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a computer system for enhanced part-of-speech (POS-) tagging as well as grammatically disambiguating a phrase. A phrase is usually a short multiword expression that may be ambiguous. By introducing grammatical constraints the invention supports POS-tagging as well as grammatically disambiguating the phrase. According to an identifier for the phrase, the phrase is supplemented with artificial context information. The supplemented phrase is then POS-tagged or grammatically disambiguated. Important applications are POS-tagging, Automatic Term Encoding, Headword Detection and Information Retrieval.

TL;DR: In this article, a conversation is analyzed and contextually or textually relevant keywords and phrases are identified in a visually-identifiable manner for selection by an individual participating in the conversation.
Abstract: In the context of an instant messaging application, a conversation is analyzed and contextually or textually relevant keywords and/or phrases are identified. Keywords or phrases are highlighted in a visually-identifiable manner for selection by an individual participating in the conversation. Once selected by an individual, a user interface is presented and exposes various contextually- or textually-relevant material or functionality that pertains to the selected word or phrase. An individual can also manually select a word or phrase to access the user interface. At least some of this relevant material or functionality is presented to the user in the context of the instant messaging application and in a manner in which it can be consumed by the individual within the instant messaging application itself.
