Abstract: 1,210,770. Fermentation process. AJINOMOTO CO. Inc. 14 April, 1969 [15 April, 1968], No. 19077/69. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C6] The following yeasts are aerobically cultivated in a culture medium initially containing 0A8% or 1A5% of methanol as a main carbon source, to produce yeast cells and the specified chemical substances: (1) Pichia pastoris CBS 704 (L-glutamic acid, L-lysine and α-ketoglutaric acid); (2) Hansenula wickerhamii NRRL YB-4943 (L-glutamic acid, L-threonine, alanine, citric acid and trace amounts of fumaric acid); (3) Pichia haplophyla CBS 2028 (L-glutamic acid, L-valine and citric acid); and (4) Candida parapsilosis IFO 0585 (hypoxanthine). Alternatively, the methanol may be added gradually at the rate at which it is consumed.
