TL;DR: In this article, the influence of polyethylene bitumen modification on the adhesion between bitumen and aggregate was investigated and shown to have a negative impact on binder aggregate adhesion.
Abstract: Abstract In order to achieve extended life of asphalt pavement, one of key points is to achieve a good bonding between it’s components. This research paper presents findings on the topic of influence of polyethylene bitumen modification on the adhesion between bitumen and aggregate. A novel method of quantifying the bitumen coated area, based on computer image analysis, has been developed for this study. Two different methods of adhesion testing were employed, namely boiling water method and the rolling bottle method. Aggregates used in this study were granite and limestone. Based on 108 measurements, it was concluded that polyethylene modification has a negative impact on binder aggregate adhesion.

TL;DR: A converyor belt is fitted with a cover layer of an elastomer material, carried on a reinforcement ply, impregnated on both sides by a plastomer lining.
Abstract: A converyor belt is fitted with a cover layer of an elastomer material, carried on a reinforcement ply, impregnated on both sides by a plastomer lining. The next layer below is an elastomer material in which elements of high tensile strength nwire ropes) are embedded. The final layer is another elastomer material. The pref. impregnant of the ply (a multilayer textile fabric) is PVC, and the pref. lining is a resorcinol-formaldehyde-donator-silica adhesive system. This provides complete safety against longitudinal splitting and a greater puncturing resistance.

TL;DR: In this paper, a ternary mixture of SBS elastomer and atactic polypropylene plastomer was used for the manufacturing of a waterproof membrane, which is capable of being welded using a flame and can be adhesively bonded to bitumen with heating.
Abstract: The present invention is characterised by a process for the manufacture of a waterproof membrane based on a ternary mixture which combines the SBS elastomer and atactic polypropylene plastomer and direct-distillation bitumens. Additives consisting of special oils ensure the compatibility of the components and the stability of the mixture. The waterproof membrane according to the process does not require surface protection and withstands a direct exposure to inclement weather; it is capable of being welded using a flame and (or) can be adhesively bonded to bitumen with heating.
