Abstract: A method, and associated apparatus, for providing a wireless communication station (52) with a dynamically-assigned address which provides a temporary address to route data to the wireless communications station (52). A temporary address is assigned to the wireless communication station (52) to permit data, such as packet data, to be communicated between the wireless communication station (52) and a correspondent host (54). Once communication with the wireless communication station (52) is terminated, the temporary address can be reassigned and reused pursuant to subsequent communications with another wireless communication station.

Abstract: A wireless communication apparatus which can simultaneously conduct communication on at least two frequency channels is described. The apparatus includes a communication unit which refers to a connection management table to determine a communication system which can be used by a wireless communication terminal using an identifier of the wireless communication terminal, and conducts communication with the wireless communication terminal on a second frequency channel using the communication system, when a request from the wireless communication terminal to change the first frequency channel to the second frequency channel is permitted.

Abstract: Cost-effective and scalable wireless backhaul solutions are essential for realizing the 5G vision of providing gigabits per second anywhere. Not only is wireless backhaul essential to support network densification based on small cell deployments, but also for supporting very low latency inter-BS communication to deal with intercell interference. Multiplexing backhaul and access on the same frequency band (in-band wireless backhaul) has obvious cost benefits from the hardware and frequency reuse perspective, but poses significant technology challenges. We consider an in-band solution to meet the backhaul and inter-BS coordination challenges that accompany network densification. Here, we present an analysis to persuade the readers of the feasibility of in-band wireless backhaul, discuss realistic deployment and system assumptions, and present a scheduling scheme for inter- BS communications that can be used as a baseline for further improvement. We show that an inband wireless backhaul for data backhauling and inter-BS coordination is feasible without significantly hurting the cell access capacities.

Abstract: A wireless communication device may take the form of a cellular telephone, of a portable personal communication device, or even of a desk top personal computer which is equipped to communicate over the wireless cellular communication system in effect in a particular area. The wireless communication device is configured to self-adapt to various operating frequencies and communication protocols which may be present in the cellular communication environment so that the device is able to provide communications in several service areas even though the frequencies of operation and the communication protocols in use in the service areas may be incompatible with one another. The wireless communication device may also include facilities for transmitting and receiving video, graphics, and data files over an RF bandwidth. The various communication standards and protocols which may be used for these communications are recognized by the communication device, and it self-adapts to provide communications in the formats, standards, and operating frequencies which are available in particular cellular communication environments.

Abstract: In a hybrid communication system a wireless communication link is maintained between a power line communication medium and a non-power line communication medium. Wireless communication is established within an unlicensed frequency band and monitored for quality. If the quality falls below a threshold, a wireless communication link is established within a licensed frequency band. The wireless link may be maintained between a power line communication system (PLCS) backhaul point and an internet protocol (IP) network access point, and/or between a PLCS endpoint communication interface and a premises communication device.
