TL;DR: Seed from plants grown with competition had a greater percentage seedling emergence from germinated seeds, and high nutrition increased plant weight, seed production and seed weight, and also increased seedlings emergence.
Abstract: Summary. . Plants of Polygonum lapathifolium were grown either in a glasshouse or outside, at a high or a low level of mineral nutrition, and either with or without competition from barley. The viability and percentage emergence of seedlings from germinated seeds (planted in sterile compost) were higher with seed from glasshouse-grown plants. High nutrition increased plant weight, seed production and seed weight, and also increased seedling emergence. Competition reduced plant weight, but had only a small, non-significant, effect on seed production. Seed from plants grown with competition had a greater percentage seedling emergence from germinated seeds.

TL;DR: In this paper, a Polygonum Cuspidatum (PC) extract was used to prevent and treat synalbumin resistant and correlative metabolic diseases and the like, and a preparation method for the polygonum extract was presented.
Abstract: The invention discloses Polygonum Cuspidatum (PC) and application of an extract thereof to preparing medicament for preventing and treating synalbumin resistant and correlative metabolic diseases, discloses a preparation method for the extract at the same time, and moreover, also discloses application of pharmaceutical composition comprising polygonum or (and) the extract of the polygonum as a medicament and a health-care product, in particular application to preparing the medicament and the health-care product for preventing and treating the synalbumin resistant and correlative metabolic diseases and the like.

TL;DR: associated species showed associated species had allelopathic to Mikania micrantha H.B.K.seedling and effects of alien populations were more than that of local species.
Abstract: Allelopathy of 5 associated species(Cyperus difformis,Polygonum hydropiper,Alternanthera philoxcroides,Bidens pilosa L.and Ipomoea batatas)on invasive plant Mikania micrantha H.B.K was studied. The bioactivity of aqueous extract from overground part of 5associated species was evaluated on the growth of Mikania micrantha H.B.K.seedling.The results showed that aqueous extract from 5 associated species inhibited growth of Mikania micrantha H.B.K.seedling and the inhibiting order was Alternanthera philoxcroidesCyperus difformisBidens pilosa L.,the Polygonum hydropiper and Ipomoea batatas had similar the inhibition rate but were obviously weak to others. The weight were inhibited more than stem and root. These results showed associated species had allelopathic to Mikania micrantha H.B.K.seedling and effects of alien populations were more than that of local species.

TL;DR: It is revealed that the freshwater snail Bulinus globosus (Morelet), never preponderates in habitats that support the plant Polygonum lanigerum Meisn, and an investigation on toxicity of aqueous extracts of the leaves and stem of this plant on Bulinus Globosus demonstrated toxicosis.
Abstract: Casual observation reveals that the freshwater snail Bulinus globosus (Morelet), never preponderates in habitats that support the plant Polygonum lanigerum Meisn. An investigation on toxicity of aqueous extracts of the leaves and stem of this plant on Bulinus globosus in a 24 h static bioassay demonstrated toxicosis. The 24-h LC50 for the leaf and stem extracts were 29.9 and 35.8 mg/liter, respectively. The relative potency of the extracts from the two plant parts was not significantly different.
