TL;DR: The different active fractions of Polygonum multiflorum Thunberg has different immune regulating activities, it indicated that Polygonu multifloru Thunburg probably has double immunoregulation.
Abstract: Objective To investigate the proliferative effects of different extract of Polygonum multiflorum Thunberg on spleen lymphocytes of mice. MethodsProliferation of T cells was induced by Con A. The proliferation ability of lymphocyte was detected by XTT assay. ResultsThe butanol and ethyl acetate extract from Polygonum multiflorum Thunberg can both accelerate proliferation of spleen lymphocytes directly and increased proliferation of T cells of mice induced by Con A. The chloroform extracts can inhibited the proliferation of spleen lymphocytes and T cells induced by Con A. Conclusion The different active fractions of Polygonum multiflorum Thunberg has different immune regulating activities,it indicated that Polygonum multiflorum Thunberg probably has double immunoregulation.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for determining the biological activity of the polygonum capilalum, its extract, and the product is presented. But the method is not suitable for the detection of polygonal cells.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for determining the biological activity of the polygonum capilalum, its extract, and the product. The determination process comprises the following steps: a. sample preparing: exactly weighing an amount of polygonum capilalum or its extract and its product, dissolving with the distilled water for preparing a solution with a definite concentration, centrifuging, and diluting the upper clear liquid with pH7.8 phosphoric acid to the demanded concentration for use; b. determining: preparing the double disk with proper wilted hay bacillus, determining the inhibition zone diameter of polygonum capilalum samples with different concentrations in test organism, linear regression according to the regression equation, calculating the crude drug content of the polygonum capilalum in the detecting sample according to the inhibition zone diameter Y.

TL;DR: The results showed that the primary and secondary structure of the root and stem and the leaf structure of Polygonum multiflorum root, stem, leaf and root tuber is similar to dicotyledon.
Abstract: The structure of Polygonum multiflorum root, stem, leaf and root tuber and its anthraquinones distribution were studied to provide a reference to study the accumulation regulation of its anthraquinones. The results showed that the primary and secondary structure of the root and stem and the leaf structure is similar to dicotyledon. The root tuber is composed of periderm, secondary phloem, abnormal vascular, secondary xylem, and primary xylem. The abnormal vascular is the kind of amphicribral vascular bundle. Its anthraquinones is mainly distributed in root tubers and the anthraquinones content in its stem, root and leaf is little.

TL;DR: The results showed that P. lapathifolium is a valuable source of compounds with perspective biological activities, and was used in traditional medicine for its biological activities.
Abstract: Polygonum lapathifolium is an invasive plant spread worldwide, which has been used in traditional medicine for its biological activities. We studied chemical profile of the aerial part using HPLC/DAD/ESI-MS. Eight flavonoids, two chalcones and gallic acid were isolated, identified nad tested for their activity in seven experimental models (for antioxidant, α/β-glucosidase inhibitory, antimicrobial, anticholineserase activity). Our results showed that P. lapathifolium is a valuable source of compounds with perspective biological activities.

TL;DR: The study includes along with the description of a new species P. urnigera together with three new records from Istanbul; P. buxiforme, P. neglectum, and P. rurivagum, which are new species from the genus Polygonum.
Abstract: This paper presents some novelties from the genus Polygonum (Polygonaceae) in Turkey. The study includes along with the description of a new species P. urnigera together with three new records from Istanbul; P. buxiforme, P. neglectum, and P. rurivagum. The distribution records of all these species have been included along with photographs and illustrations of the new species. The paper presents a new key for Polygonum s.str. (sect. Polygonum) species in Turkey.
