TL;DR: In this article, a preparation method of the processed polygonum multiflorum polysaccharide comprises the following steps of: crushing, refluxing and degreasing by use of 95% ethanol; filtering out a solvent, drying filter residues, and then refluxed and extracting by virtue of 80% ethanol.
Abstract: The invention provides prepared polygonum multiflorum polysaccharide and an application thereof in preparing an anti-aging medicament. A preparation method of the processed polygonum multiflorum polysaccharide comprises the following steps of: crushing polygonum multiflorum, and refluxing and degreasing by use of 95% ethanol; filtering out a solvent, drying filter residues, and then refluxing and extracting by virtue of 80% ethanol; filtering out the solvent, and drying filter residues to obtain degreased processed polygonum multiflorum powder; adding water into the degreased polygonum multiflorum powder, extracting in a water bath at a constant temperature of between 60 and 90 DEG C under a condition that the pH value is 7.0; filtering, mixing filtrates, and concentrating until the relative density is 1.05; adding amylase, and standing overnight at 37 DEG C; filtering, adding ethanol into filtrate to regulate the alcohol density to be between 50 percent and 80 percent, and standing overnight; and filtering, and removing protein and pigment from precipitate to obtain the processed polygonum multiflorum polysaccharide. The processed polygonum multiflorum polysaccharide can be applied in preparing the anti-aging medicament, has an excellent treatment effect, is a Chinese medicinal preparation, has the advantages of small toxic and side effects, safety, reliability and wide application field, and can be used for development of capsules, granules, tablets and the like.

TL;DR: Results indicate that PMWs and PMEs significantly reduces the effect of oxidative and inflammatory cytokines.
Abstract: The anti-inflammatory effects of Polygonum multiflorum water extracts (PMWs) and Polygonum multiflorum 70 % ethanol extracts(PMEs) were investigated using lipopolysaccharide-induce by inflammatory response. The inhibitory effects of PMWs and PMEs on the production of nitric oxide (NO) and pro inflammatory cytokines in LPS activated Raw 264.7 cells were investigated. The effects were examined after reducing production of Nitric oxide (NO), prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) protein levels. RAW 264.7 cells were cultured with LPS (1 μg/mL) in the presence or absence of PMWs and PMEs for 24 h to determine their NO, iNOS, COX–2 levels. During the entire experimental period 10, 25, 50 and 100 μg/mL of PMWs and PMEs showed no cytotoxicity. At these concentrations, PMWs and PMEs concentration dependently reduced the production of nitric oxide (NO), prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-1β (IL-1β). PMWs and PMEs were inhibited the activittion of iNOS, COX-2 by 89%, 54%, 91% and 57% respectively, at 100 μg/mL. These results indicate that PMWs and PMEs significantly reduces the effect of oxidative and inflammatory cytokines.

TL;DR: Cynanchum bungei is a kind of good new resource of functional food, which provides theoretical bases for exploitation on edible biologic medicines on Cynanchum sp.
Abstract: The general compositions of protein, amino acid, phosphatide and minerals in Cynanchum bungei were measured, and the nutritious component were compared with Polygonum multiflorum Thunban. and other kinds of Cynanchum sp., which provide theoretical bases for exploitation on edible biologic medicines on Cynanchum sp.. The results suggest that Cynanchum bungei is a kind of good new resource of functional food.

TL;DR: The NMR spectroscopic characteristics of the acetylated rhamnose of flavonoids glycosides were summarized in this paper, where nine compounds were isolated from the Polygonum capitatum Buch.-Ham.
Abstract: Nine compounds were isolated from EtOAc extract of the Polygonum capitatum Buch.-Ham.ex D.Don..Their structures were identified as quercetin 3-O-(4″-O-acetyl)-α-L-rhamnopyranoside(1),quercetin(2),quercitrin(3),myricetrin(4),quercetin 3-rhamnoside 2″-gallate(5),protocatechuic acid(6),daucosterol(7),gallic acid(8) and progallin A(9) on the basis of their physical properties and the spectral data.Compound 1 was isolated from the genus Polygonum for the first time, and 4 was isolated from the plant for the first time. The NMR spectroscopic characteristics of the acetylated rhamnose of flavonoids glycosides were summarized.

TL;DR: Allelopathy tests revealed strong phytotoxicity of the leaf and root extracts, and discovered two strong allelochemicals resveratrol and rhein, as well as piceid, resver atroloside or piceatannol glucoside with stronger activity than (-) - catechin.
Abstract: This work aimed to reveal the invasive mechanism of invasiv plant species and to study their beneficial uses. An acetylcholinesterase inhibitor linarin was isolated from Buddleja davidii Franch (Buddlejaceae), and the structure-activity relationship was studied. HPLC/UV/ESI-MS analyses demonstrated different phytochemcial profiles of Polygonum cuspidatum Sieb. & Zucc. and P. sachalinensis F. Schmidt ex Maxim (Polygonaceae) from China and Switzerland. Seven compounds of 21 isolated compounds were reported for the first time from these two species. Allelopathy tests revealed strong phytotoxicity of the leaf and root extracts, and discovered two strong allelochemicals resveratrol and rhein, as well as piceid, resveratroloside or piceatannol glucoside with stronger activity than (-) - catechin. Other biotests showed the potential of the isolated compounds against α-glucosidase, aromatase or as anti-inflammatory agents. At last the total content of resveratrol in the invasive Swiss variety of P. cuspidatum was measured to prove it a source of resveratrol.
