TL;DR: The twin polyoxometalate-based metal organic frameworks (POMOFs) synthesized were highly active for heterogeneous catalysis of small-molecule oxidation, with Comp 2 showing better activity than Comp1, particularly for oxidation of ethylbenzene and cyclooctene.
Abstract: In this work we synthesized two novel isostructural twin hybrids Comp1: [H(C10H10N2)Cu2][PMo12O40] & Comp2: [H(C10H10N2)Cu2][PW12O40], based on the Keggin ions (PMo12O40–3 & PW12O40–3), Cu(I) cation, and 4,4′-bipyridine, by in situ hydrothermal reduction of Cu, facilitated through extensive standardizations of synthetic pH conditions Both compounds crystallized in monoclinic P21/c space group with similar lattice parameters and crystal structures The structural similarity prompted us to explore comparative catalytic properties of the hybrids, to understand the relative role of the POM species in the activity While characterization techniques like powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), single-crystal XRD, IR, adsorption studies, etc confirmed the identical structural hierarchy in the twin polyoxometalate-based metal organic frameworks (POMOFs), critical analyses through X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray absorption near-edge structure spectroscopy, and magnetic property studies elucidated the electronic

TL;DR: The present investigation provides an example for developing hydrogen-bonding-induced polyoxometalate-containing hybrid liquid crystal materials with intrinsic luminescence and shows the dependence on the existing states of samples, and the quantum yields of the complexes in the liquid crystalline structures are higher than the corresponding amorphous powders.
Abstract: Eu-containing polyoxometalates, Na9EuW10O36, K11Eu(PW11O39)2, and K13Eu(SiW11O39)2, were electrostatically canned by a cationic surfactant, N-[12-(4-carboxylphenoxy)dodecyl]-N-dodecyl-N,N-dimethyla...

TL;DR: In this paper, Anderson-type polyoxometalates have been used as a catalyst for the aerobic oxidation at 80°C of vicinal diols (glycols).
Abstract: An Anderson-type polyoxometalate, [IVIIMo6O24]5–, has been used as a catalyst for the aerobic oxidation at 80 °C of vicinal diols (glycols). This is the first report on the use of such a polyoxometalate as an oxidation catalyst. Reactivity and selectivity were dependent on the substrate. Thus, aryl-substituted diols yielded mostly the carbon-carbon bond cleavage products, while 1,2-cyclohexanediol yielded cyclohexanone-2-ol and 1,2-cyclohexanedione. Aliphatic diols were less reactive but yielded carbon-carbon bond cleavage products in the presence of additional acid. An abbreviated mechanistic study was carried out indicating that the polyoxometalate oxidizes the diol to the various products even under anaerobic conditions. The reduced polyoxometalates (heteropoly blues and heteropoly browns) formed in the oxidation of the diols are re-oxidized by the molecular oxygen.

TL;DR: In this paper, hydrotalcite pillared by polyoxometalates of Mo and W catalyzed epoxidation of alkenes with H2O2 with significant shape selectivity.
Abstract: Hydrotalcite pillared by polyoxometalates of Mo and W catalyzed epoxidation of alkenes with H2O2 with significant shape selectivity; epoxidation of 2-hexene was favored than that of cyclohexene. The subsequent hydrolysis of epoxides to form diols was retarded compared to hydrotalcite-free catalysts.

TL;DR: In this paper, the role of hydroxyl radical in the polyoxometalate-mediated photocatalytic oxidation of aqueous chlorinated organic compounds was investigated using kinetic probes.
Abstract: The present study reports the development of kinetic probes to determine the possible role of hydroxyl radicalsin the polyoxometalate-mediated photocatalytic oxidation of aqueous chlorinated organic compounds.Photocatalytic oxidation of the model chloroaromatic 1,2-dichlorobenzene (DCB) was carried out in oxygenated, illuminated solutions of three contrasting polyoxometalates (POMs), H
