TL;DR: In this paper, double-manipulator rail vehicle flaw detection equipment consisting of a trolley component 2, a portal frame component 3, a lifting frame component 4, a tread probe manipulator component 5, and a rim probe manipulators component 6 is presented.
Abstract: The invention relates to double-manipulator rail vehicle flaw detection equipment which comprises a trolley component 2, a portal frame component 3, a lifting frame component 4, a tread probe manipulator component 5 and a rim probe manipulator component 6, and is characterized in that the trolley component 2 can move; the tread probe manipulator component 5 is fixed on the trolley component 2; the portal frame component 3 is fixed on the upper surface of the trolley component 2; the largest height of the portal frame component is lower than the smallest height of the tread probe manipulator component at the lower part in the longitudinal direction of a tread manipulator; the widths of the inner sides of portal frames on two sides are greater than the smallest width of the tread probe manipulator component; the lifting frame component 4 and the rim probe manipulator component 6 are fixed on the portal frame component 3.

TL;DR: The formulas were derived in terms of the internal force and the lateral stiffness, and the influence of the semi-rigid connections was discussed, and a calculation flowchart of the lateral performance on a semi- Rigid frame was presented to verify the derived formulas and to show a framework of theateral structural design process.
Abstract: Semi-rigidness of the joint connections is one of the main characteristics of timber structures. The pin-joint assumption for the semi-rigid joint connections might be not conservative in the timber structural design. In this paper, structural analysis was conducted on a semi-rigid timber portal frame; the formulas were derived in terms of the internal force and the lateral stiffness, and the influence of the semi-rigid connections was discussed. Moreover, experimental tests were performed on three full-scale timber portal frames and five bolted timber connections to study the lateral performance of the frames and the moment resistance of the connections. For consistency, the connections from the portal frames and the connections for bending tests were of the same configuration. Finally, a calculation flowchart of the lateral performance on a semi-rigid frame was presented to verify the derived formulas and to show a framework of the lateral structural design process.

TL;DR: In this article, the critical softening parameter for a first-formed hinge in a continuous beam or portal frame was derived and the soft points at which a (sub CR) is a minimum may be found for each member.
Abstract: Softening behaviour is assumed to occur over a finite hinge length at any point in a continuous beam or portal frame. Formulae are derived for the critical softening parameter for a first- formed hinge corresponding to which the structure as a whole cannot sustain increased load. "Soft points" at which a (sub CR) is a minimum may be found for each member. Analytical values for a (sub CR) are verified in an example where softening occurs in the first formed hinge of a portal frame. (Author/TRRL)

TL;DR: In this paper, a traveling type welding machine arranged on the lift of a portal frame was used to improve an efficiency and safety by vertically locating the box column loaded on a raising and felling device.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve an efficiency and safety as well by vertically locating the box column loaded on a raising and felling device and by performing an automatic welding of a diaphragm by using the traveling type welding machine arranged on the lift of a portal frame. CONSTITUTION: The frame 17 ascending and descending along a main column 1 and the automatic welding machine moving in the horizontal direction along the main beam of the frame 17 are provided on the front face of the portal frame composed of a pair of main column 11 and sub-column 12 and plural work platform supporting frame 14. A box frame 30 is then raised by actuating a driving device 32 after binding by horizontally loading plural box columns 1 on the box frame which is located at the horizontal position. With the vertical standing of the box column 1 the prescribed welding is performed after positioning the automatic welding machine by driving the frame 17 further by advancing the work platform 15 located on the supporting frame 14 according to the position of the diaphragm 2 to be welded. The box column can thus be safely welded with good efficiency. COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
