TL;DR: In this paper, a displacement-based seismic design procedure for one-storey wooden structures made with a portal system is presented, where a series of analytical expressions have been developed to calculate design parameters.
Abstract: The research is aimed at developing seismic methods for the design and evaluation of the seismic vulnerability of wooden structures, using a displacement-based approach. After a brief introduction on the seismic behaviour of timber structures, the general Direct Displacement-Based Design (Direct-DBD) procedure and the state-of-the-art are presented, with clear reference to the application of the Direct-DBD method to wooden buildings. The strength of the Direct-DBD method is its ability to design structures in a manner consistent with the level of damage expected, by directly relating the response and the expected performance of the structure. The research begins with a description of the procedural aspects of the Direct-DBD method and the parameters required for its application. The research presented focuses on the formulation of a displacement-based seismic design procedure, applicable to one-storey wooden structures made with a portal system. This typology is very common in Europe and particularly in Italy. A series of analytical expressions have been developed to calculate design parameters. The required analytical Direct-DBD parameters are implemented based on the mechanical behaviour of the connections, made with metal dowel-type fasteners. The calibration and subsequent validation of design parameters use a Monte Carlo numerical simulation and outcomes obtained by tests in full-scale. After the description of the Displacement-Based method for one-storey wooden structures, a series of guidelines to extend the Direct-DBD methodology to other types and categories of timber systems are proposed. The thesis presents the case of a multi-storey wood frame construction, which is a simple extension of the glulam portal frame system. Part of this work has been done within the RELUIS Project, (REte dei Laboratori Universitari di Ingegneria Sismica), Research Line IV, which in the years between 2005 and 2008 involved several Italian universities and Italian institutes of research in the development of new seismic design methods. The Project produced the first draft of model code for the seismic design of structures based on displacement (Direct-DBD). This thesis is the background to the section of the model code developed for timber structures.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a robot intelligent pore-opening device which comprises an outer rail, wherein a double-column portal frame is arranged on the outer rail; a control cabinet is mounted on the double-Column portal frame; a base of the double column portal frame was provided with a portal travelling drive device; the robot cutting device comprises a cutting robot; the cutting robot was mounted on a lifting supporting base in a suspended manner.
Abstract: The invention relates to a robot intelligent pore-opening device which comprises an outer rail, wherein a double-column portal frame is arranged on the outer rail; a control cabinet is mounted on the double-column portal frame; a base of the double-column portal frame is provided with a portal travelling drive device; the robot cutting device comprises a cutting robot; the cutting robot is mounted on a lifting supporting base in a suspended manner; the tail end of the cutting robot is provided with a laser detector; the lifting supporting base and a beam of the double-column portal frame are connected through a movable slide plate; a transverse drive device and a lifting drive device are arranged on the movable slide plate; and racks and guide rails are arranged on the beam and the lifting supporting base. The robot intelligent pore-opening device can open pores at different positions, in different directions and at different bevel angles in workpieces with different thicknesses and different radians; and the tail end of the cutting robot is provided with the laser detector, so that pore-opening positions, angles and radians can be guaranteed to be completely correct, and therefore, pore-opening operation saves both time and labor.

TL;DR: In this paper, a vine-harvester uses a portal frame to mount beating implements on supports, straddling the longitudinal axis, the manner in which they are mounted being such that they maintain their parallel relationship during oscillation.
Abstract: The vine-harvester uses a portal frame (2) to mount beating implements (5) on supports (6), straddling the longitudinal axis. The two opposed sets of implements are parallel to each other and occupy horizontal planes, the manner in which they are mounted being such that they maintain their parallel relationship during oscillation. Motors may be used to effect the reciprocal guided transverse motion of opposed pairs of implement-supports, guidage being effected by posts (7,8,12) fixed to or passing through the frame, whilst the motor has a crank shaft.

TL;DR: In this paper, a flexible earth anchor drilling and taking machine is presented, which integrates walking and operating into one piece of special equipment, causes a hydraulic power rotary helical slice to enter earth to a certain depth, depending on the withdrawal resistance of the helical slicing against the earth mass to form anchoring force.
Abstract: The invention discloses a flexible earth anchor drilling and taking machine, comprising a prime motor capable of walking and a portal frame arranged on the prime motor The portal frame is provided with a feeding mechanism, a driving cylinder and an earth anchor drilling and taking mechanism thereon The driving cylinder is connected with the earth anchor drilling and taking mechanism in a transmission way through the feeding mechanism The drilling and taking machine also comprises a landing leg and a pull rod, wherein the landing leg is vertically arranged on the prime motor and near the portal frame, two ends of the pull rod are respectively articulated with the prime motor and the portal frame, the lower part of the portal frame is articulated with the prime motor The drilling and taking machine integrates walking and operating into one piece of special equipment, causes a hydraulic power rotary helical slice to enter earth to certain depth, depends on the withdrawal resistance of the helical slice against the earth mass to form anchoring force, and can take out the flexible earth anchor after use for reuse, thus realizing mechanical construction and improving the efficiency of preparation for line construction to great degree
