TL;DR: In this paper, a component based finite element model (CBFEM) is introduced to analyze and design connections of steel structures. But the results are compared to those obtained by component method for portal frame eaves moment connection with good agreement.
Abstract: This paper introduces component based finite element model (CBFEM) which is a new method to analyse and design connections of steel structures. Design focused component model (CM) is compared to finite elements models (FEM). Procedure for composition of a model based on usual production process is used in CBFEM. Its results are compared to those obtained by component method for portal frame eaves moment connection with good agreement. Design of moment resistant column base is demonstrated by a case loaded by two directional bending moments and normal force. Interaction of several connections in one complex joint is explained in the last example. This paper aims to provide structural engineers with a new tool to effectively analyse and design various joints of steel structures.

TL;DR: In this paper, a pseudo-static experiment with a 1/3 scaled model has been conducted to study on the failure model, ductility, energy dissipation capacity, structural displacement, and stiffness of the portal frame structures on the effect of earthquake force.
Abstract: To study on the failure model, ductility, energy dissipation capacity, structural displacement, and stiffness of the portal frame structures on the effect of earthquake force, a pseudo-static experiment with a 1/3 scaled model has been completed. Based on the test result, though the ductility and the energy consumption capacity of the structure are poor, the requirement on aseismatic bearing capacity is satisfied, because the structure suffers the smaller seismic force as the deadweight of structure is light. Built up a finite element model according to the test specimen, then performed finite element analysis, the results showed that the finite element model can be used for seismic analysis of the portal frame.

TL;DR: In this paper, a stiff support for mounting arch feet of a concrete-filled steel tube arch rib bridge comprises a first portal frame, a second portal frame and connecting longitudinal beams, front distribution beams and tail distribution beams.
Abstract: A stiff support for mounting arch feet of a concrete-filled steel tube arch rib bridge comprises a first portal frame, a second portal frame, connecting longitudinal beams, front distribution beams and tail distribution beams. The first portal frame and the second portal frame are connectedly fixed through the connecting longitudinal beams, the front distribution beams, the tail distribution beams and the connecting longitudinal beams are positioned on a same plane and identical in arrangement direction, a first elevation adjusting block and a second elevation adjusting block are arranged above the first portal frame and the second portal frame respectively, and the arch feet are mounted at the upper ends of the first elevation adjusting block and the second adjusting block of the stiff support. Components of the stiff support are connected by welding, so that integral stiffness stability of structure can be guaranteed, and working efficiency can be improved. The stiff support is stable in mechanical structure, simple to assemble and manufacture and construction material saving, a technical basis is provided for improving safety in bridge construction, and the stiff support is highly applicable to the field of mounting arch ribs of the concrete-filled steel tube arch bridge in China and can generate huge economic benefit and social benefit after being popularized and applied.

TL;DR: In this paper, a marine convertible flexible bridge of structure, flexible bridge whole contraction to the bridge as main bridge no. 1 in, and with portal frame tilting fixed together in the ship bow, so occupation space is little, can not be expert at cross the journey in the superelevation run into the bridge.
Abstract: The utility model discloses an it is long-pending to occupy the first capacity of hull to prior art transportation outrigger, make the effective use space of ship reduce and transport the outrigger and can not withdraw in the hull completely, the operation of giving the ship brings that potential safety hazards's is not enough, the utility model provides a marine convertible flexible bridge, it includes two section at least telescopic minute bridges, rotate with the ship bow by branch bridge no. 1 as main bridge and be connected, divide the bridge range upon range of setting, the branch bridge that lies in the upper strata can stretch out or the indentation at the branch bridge that lies in the lower floor, be provided with the portal frame in the hull, portal frame drive arrangement can drive the portal frame and slope in to the hull, also can drive the portal frame gets back to vertical position and fixes the portal frame on corresponding position, adopt, the utility model discloses the marine convertible flexible bridge of structure, flexible bridge whole contraction to the bridge as main bridge no. 1 in, and with portal frame tilting fixed together in the ship bow, so occupation space is little, can not be expert at cross the journey in the superelevation run into the bridge, do not take ship bow space simultaneously
