TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used orthophosphuric acid during organic matter determination and found no significant difference in the value of organic matter when the volume of diphenylamine indicator reduces from 15 to 4 drops.
Abstract: Soil organic matter represents the remains of roots, plant materials, dead organisms in varies stages of decomposition and synthesis and is variable in composition. Walkley-Black method for the determination of organic matter is the most common method; however, it requires a lot of reagents and chemicals including potassium dichromate which is toxic especially when it is in a hexavalent form. It is very important to be able to reduce the amount of chemicals used during the analysis of organic carbon and it is also very important to reduce environmental pollution since the chemicals released to the environment becomes toxic. As the weight of sample decreases from 1 g (a Walkley-Black recommendation) proportionally with volume of reagents, there is no significant difference shown on the value of organic matter. Using orthophosphuric acid during organic matter determination did not have an impact on the results; however, it helps to observe a sharp endpoint. When the volume of diphenylamine indicator reduces from 15 to 4 drops, the result of organic matter has no significant difference. Key words: Organic matter, optimization, analytical method, Walkley-Black, potassium dichromate.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method of determining the presence of glycol in an aqueous solution comprising providing a container containing a mixture of potassium dichromate, a catalyst comprised of mercuric sulfate and silver sulfate, the mixture provided in an acidic solution.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of determining the presence of glycol in an aqueous solution comprising providing a container containing a mixture of potassium dichromate, a catalyst comprised of mercuric sulfate and silver sulfate, the mixture provided in an acidic solution. To the container is added a controlled volume of aqueous solution containing glycol. The mixture is permitted a time sufficient to change color, the time not being in excess of 15 minutes. The color is compared to a set of color standards to determine the presence of glycol in said aqueous solution.

TL;DR: The effect of irradiation temperature on the response of potassium dichromate solutions to 60Co γ-rays has been studied in this paper, and the effect is one of the largest yet reported for any suggested aqueous dosimeter, with a decrease in G(−Cr2O2−7) of 0.39% per °C at 25°C.

TL;DR: In this article, an etchant and a method of using the etchant for revealing dislocations on low index planes in group II-VI compounds such as (Hgx Cd.sub.(1-x))Te.
Abstract: The invention provides an etchant and a method of using the etchant for revealing dislocations on low index planes in group II-VI compounds such as (Hgx Cd.sub.(1-x))Te. The etchant has a composition proportional to 80 ml water, 10 ml of hydrochloric acid, 20 ml of nitric acid, and 8 gm of potassium dichromate. In another embodiment, the concentration of nitric acid is reduced to 0%. The surface of the compound being examined is exposed to the etchant for about 20 second to 6 minutes depending upon the crystallographic plane being examined. The surface is then rinsed in water. For the {111}B plane, additional rinses in a 0.05% solution of bromine in methanol and methanol are used.

TL;DR: The extract of Citrus reticulata peel improved the testicular histology and decreased p53 positive immune-reaction in potassium dichromate administered rats, suggesting that it may act as a new natural prophylactically agent for the treatment of potassium dichrome-induced testicular damage.
