TL;DR: Germanium tetrachoride in association with such an amount of aqueous hydrochloric acid of 5.5 to 6N strength to form a second liquid phase, is distilled in the presence of suficient chlorine to saturate the system whereby the arsenical contamination is reduced to 0.005 p.p.m. or less as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: Germanium tetrachoride in association with such an amount of aqueous hydrochloric acid of 5.5 to 6N strength to form a second liquid phase, is distilled in the presence of suficient chlorine to saturate the system whereby the arsenical contamination is reduced to 0.005 p.p.m. or less. The chlorine may be generated in situ by the addition of an oxidizing agent such as potassium dichromate or chlorate, but is preferably added from an outside source. The tetrachloride may be converted by hydrolysis to the dioxide which has an arsenic contamination of 0.01 p.p.m. or less.

TL;DR: The reactions of four transition metal ions and oxyanions with fused zinc chloride have been elucidated in this paper, showing that at higher temperatures they react to give zinc chromite, with slight oxidation of the melt.

TL;DR: The results demonstrate that potassium dichromate exposure resulted in 22% more mtDNA damage than that observed in the control group, indicating that mt DNA damage may be a possible mechanism of dichromates toxicity.
Abstract: Chromium (Cr) is a naturally occurring heavy metal. It is widely used in industrial processes and as a result is a common contaminant in many environmental systems. Perchlorate (ClO4 - ) is an anion commercially available as a salt with many cations. The most common forms of perchlorate include ammonium perchlorate and potassium perchlorate. Potassium permanganate (KMnO4) is used worldwide in industrial processes and laboratory analysis methods, as well as in freshwater pond aquaculture. In this study, mtDNA damage and copy number in Drosophila in response to exposure to potassium permanganate, potassium dichromate and potassium perchlorate was examined. The results demonstrate that potassium dichromate exposure resulted in 22% more mtDNA damage than that observed in the control group. There is evidence of carcinogenic activity of dichromate in mice and rats. The current study indicates that mtDNA damage may be a possible mechanism of dichromate toxicity.

TL;DR: The affection of different age rats by potassium dichromate was led to the violation of antioxidant system and it was confirmed by decrease of the catalase rate and reduced glutathione content in blood serum and liver of experimental animals.
Abstract: The affection of different age rats by potassium dichromate (3 mg/kg) was led to the violation of antioxidant system. It was confirmed by decrease of the catalase rate and reduced glutathione content in blood serum and liver of experimental animals. The most sensitive animals to the bile formation processes were immature and old animals, affected by K2Cr2O7.

TL;DR: In this paper, a molecular mechanism for the oxidation of poly-p-aminophenol using potassium dichromate is proposed, which explains the specific features of polymeric oligomerization and polymerization reactions.
Abstract: The synthesis of poly-p-aminophenol (PPAP) by oxidative chemical polymerization using potassium dichromate as oxidizing agent was carried out. The optimum conditions for the polymerization reaction were investigated. The order of reactions and thermodynamic activation parameters were calculated. A molecular mechanism for the oxidation of p-aminophenol using potassium dichromate is proposed. This mechanism explains the specific features of p-aminophenol oligomerization and polymerization reactions. Spectroscopic studies using IR, UV–vis and elemental analysis have evidenced the structure of polymeric chain. The surface morphology of the obtained polymer was characterized by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) was used to confirm the proposed structure and number of water molecules in each polymeric chain unit. Moreover, determinations of dielectric properties of the prepared polymer at the investigated optimum condition were carried out. The a.c conductivity (σ ac ) of (PPAP) was investigated as a function of frequency and temperature. The microscopic conduction mechanism of charge carries over the potential barrier in polymer backbone was found to be classical hopping model. The equilibrium ground state geometric parametric of p-aminophenol (PAP) neutral monomer and radical cation are investigated theoretically using DFT – B3LYP/ 6-311G ** level of calculation. The initiation and propagation steps of oxidative chemical polymerization are theoretically investigated.
