TL;DR: In this paper, the emission and excitation spectra of K 2 Cr 2 O 7 crystals were first measured over the temperature range of 4-30 K. On the ground of these observations, the energy level scheme of transitions has been proposed and the vibrational analysis of the spectra has been carried out.

TL;DR: The use of animals as bioindicators has been useful, especially in the evaluation of environmental impact of pollutant discharges in aquatic ecosystems as discussed by the authors, where the authors assess the fish Phalloceros caudimaculatus (known as Guaru) as a heavy metal sbioindicator.
Abstract: The use of animals as bioindicators has been useful, especially in the evaluation of environmental impact of pollutant discharges in aquatic ecosystems. This study, aims to assess the fish Phalloceros caudimaculatus (known as Guaru) as a heavy metal sbioindicator. LC50 (96 h) acute toxicity tests to potassium dichromate salts, cadmium nitrate, lead II nitrate and zinc sulfate, and bioaccumulation of metals such as cadmium, chromium, lead and zinc were conducted. In the bioaccumulation test, for three months standard tanks were used, with different contamination levels above the levels set by local law, a pollution control tank was also set. The following data was obtained in acute toxicity tests LC50 (96 h): Potassium dichromate 164.58 ± 18.75 mg/L, Cadmium nitrate was 29.5 ± 1.21 mg/L, Lead nitrate was 15.5 ± 0.47 mg/L and zinc sulfate was 62.8 ± 2.81 mg/L. The bioconcentration factor (BCF) maintained the order Zn > Pb > Cd > Cr, where the resulting values were considered high for the four elements ranging from 92.4 (Cr) to 1793.1 (Zn). Based on the test results, the Guaru fish proved resistant to the presence of these metals and a showed a high bioaccumulation rate. Thus, it can be used as a bioindicator of heavy metals.

TL;DR: In this paper, both susceptibility to chemical oxidation and biodegradability of nitrobenzene were determined and both were shown to be resistant to chemical oxidization with potassium permanganate and partially oxidized with potassium dichromate.
Abstract: Both susceptibility to chemical oxidation and biodegradability of nitrobenzene are determined. Nitrobenzene is found to be resistant to chemical oxidation with potassium permanganate and is partially oxidized with potassium dichromate. Biodegradability is studied in a batch and in a flow-through system both with municipal and with artificially prepared wastewaters. Nitrobenzene present in municipal wastewater at 300 g/m3 concentrations is found to be biodegradable after adaptation of the biomass. In a flow-through system nitrobenzene is degradable at 400 g/m3 concentration. Concentrations exceeding 10 g/m3 inhibit the nitrification process.

TL;DR: In this paper, the principal inorganic anions (bromide, carbonate, chlorate, chloride, fluoride, nitrate, nitrite, sulfate, phosphate) were separated using a capillary electrophoresis system with indirect UV detection at 260 nm.
Abstract: The separation of the principal inorganic anions (bromide, carbonate, chlorate, chloride, fluoride, nitrate, nitrite, sulfate, phosphate) has been achieved using a capillary electrophoresis system with indirect UV detection at 260 nm. Several types of cationic surfactants (quaternary ammonium, phosphonium or methonium) were tested as electroosmotic flow modifiers and added to a chromatebased buffer prepared from potassium dichromate. The influence of many physicochemical parameters such as nature and concentration of cationic surfactant, buffer pH, dichromate concentration buffer, voltage and temperature upon the migration time of an analyte anion, peak efficiency, asymmetry factor, and finally resolution has been investigated. A linear relationship between the corrected area and the anion concentration in the 2.5–50 ppm range was obtained, thus allowing the quantitative analysis of anions in mineral water. Finally, by increasing the hydrodynamic injection time, the separation of inorganic anions at a low concentration level of 50 ng/ml was achieved without any loss of resolution.
