TL;DR: In this article, a method for balancing power distribution in a direct current to direct current (DC-to-DC) power-conversion system is provided, which includes a plurality of channels that are connected to a load.
Abstract: A method for balancing power distribution in a direct current to direct current (DC to DC) power-conversion system is provided. The power-conversion system includes a plurality of channels that are connected to a load. The channels are also connected to corresponding power sources. The method, at a first channel, includes obtaining a first power, which is the maximum power of the power source connected to the first channel. Further, the method includes computing a reference power based on the power output of the channels. Furthermore, the method includes outputting the reference power when the first power is greater than or equal to the reference power, and outputting the first power when the first power is less than the reference power.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for controlling dynamic power factor or reactive power of a wind farm is provided. But the method is limited to the case where the wind farm comprises a number of wind turbines connected to a utility grid driven with a requested power factor, or a requested reactive power.
Abstract: A method for controlling dynamic power factor or the reactive power of a wind farm is provided. The wind farm comprises a number of wind turbines connected to a utility grid driven with a requested power factor or a requested reactive power. The wind turbine output voltage is controlled to a specific voltage set point. In the method, the wind farm power factor is measured and compared with the power factor requested for the utility grid, or the wind farm reactive power is measured and compared with the reactive power requested for the utility grid, respectively; the ratio of the wind farm voltage to the utility grid voltage is adjusted, and the output voltage of the individual wind turbines is regulated to correspond to the specific voltage set point; the steps are repeated until the power factor of the wind farm electricity corresponds to the requested reactive power.

TL;DR: In this paper, a weighted frequency scheme is adopted which relies on the fiber optic link embedded within the sub-sea cables for fast communication of onshore frequency variations up to the offshore converters.
Abstract: Inertial response from remote offshore wind farms (WFs) connected through point-to-point DC links relies on emulation of the onshore AC system frequency variation at each offshore wind turbine generator (WTG). This is not straightforward for a DC grid interconnecting WFs to multiple onshore AC systems. To address this problem, this paper builds up on a communication-less approach previously reported for provision of frequency services from offshore WFs connected through a DC grid. A weighted frequency scheme is adopted which relies on the fiber optic link embedded within the sub-sea cables for fast communication of onshore frequency variations up to the offshore converters. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is shown analytically and also through a case study on a 4-terminal DC grid interconnecting an offshore wind farm and two onshore AC systems.

TL;DR: A dc-coupled wind/hydrogen/super capacitor hybrid power system is studied and it is found that the “source-following” strategy has better performances on the grid power regulation than the ‘grid- followinging’ strategy.
Abstract: Classical wind energy conversion systems are usually passive generators. The generated power does not depend on the grid requirement but entirely on the fluctuant wind condition. A dc-coupled wind/hydrogen/super capacitor hybrid power system is studied in this paper. The purpose of the control system is to coordinate these different sources, particularly their power exchange, in order to make controllable the generated power. As a result, an active wind generator can be built to provide some ancillary services to the grid. The control system should be adapted to integrate the power management strategies. Two power management strategies are presented and compared experimentally. We found that the “source-following” strategy has better performances on the grid power regulation than the “grid-following” strategy.
