TL;DR: In this paper, a control strategy is proposed for a DC-MG to achieve perfect power sharing considering the effects of unequal line resistances, and the state of charge of the batteries is also considered in the power sharing strategy.
Abstract: DC microgrids (DC-MGs) are becoming popular as an effective means to integrate various renewable energy resources. Conventionally, the droop control is adopted as a decentralized control strategy for proper power sharing without using any communication link. However, the conventional droop control often deteriorates due to the effects of unequal line resistances. In this paper, a control strategy is proposed for a DC-MG to achieve perfect power sharing considering the effects of line resistances. The DC-MG under study consists of a photovoltaic system, two energy storage systems, a grid-connected converter system, and dc loads. The control strategy of the converters is addressed under various operation modes. To obtain prolonged and reliable operation of the DC-MG, the state of charge of the batteries is also considered in the power sharing strategy. Simulation and experimental results are provided to verify the effectiveness and validity of the proposed method.

TL;DR: In this paper, a new dc/dc converter is proposed which can produce boosted multiple dc link voltages by using the novel switched-capacitor converter (SCC) and with reduced number of switches.
Abstract: In this paper, initially a new dc/dc converter is proposed which can produce boosted multiple dc link voltages by using the novel switched-capacitor converter (SCC) and with reduced number of switches. In the proposed SCC, voltage of all capacitors is charged by binary asymmetrical pattern as self-balancing and without using any auxiliary circuits. The proposed SCC will boost the input dc power supply voltage without transformer by switching the capacitors in series and in parallel. Next, a new single phase switched-capacitor multilevel inverter (SCMLI) topology which uses the proposed SCC units as virtual dc links have been proposed. The proposed topologies reduce the number of power switches, diodes, isolated dc power supplies, size, and the cost of the system in comparison with conventional similar topologies. For example, by contribution of proposed SCMLI structure, 49 and 137 output voltage levels are made by only 14 and18 power switches and 3 and 4 isolated dc power supplies, respectively. To confirm the performance of proposed topology, various simulation results by PSCAD/EMTDC software and experimental tests are given.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors introduce the family of quasi-direct converters, i.e., forced-commutated AC/DC/AC power converters including small energy storage devices in the DC link.
Abstract: The paper introduces the family of quasi-direct converters, i.e., forced-commutated AC/DC/AC power converters including small energy storage devices in the DC link. In particular, the case of the three-phase to three-phase quasi-direct power converter is considered. Since energy storage minimization calls for instantaneous input/output power balance, a proper control strategy is needed. The paper describes a simple and effective control technique which also provides high-power factor and small distortion of the supply currents. After a discussion of the general properties of quasi-direct power converters, design criteria of both power and control sections are given, and experimental results of a 2-kVA prototype are reported. >
