10 Jul 2015TL;DR: In this article, a rubber composition with pre-treated precipitated silica and tire with component comprised of such rubber composition is described, which is comprised of at least one diene-based elastomer and a sulfur cure package comprised of elemental sulfur together with 1,6-bis (N,N′-dibenzylthiocarbamoyldithio)-hexane crosslinking agent and sulfenamide accelerator.
Abstract: The invention relates to a rubber composition prepared with pre-treated precipitated silica and tire with component comprised of such rubber composition. The rubber composition is comprised of at least one diene-based elastomer and said pre-treated precipitated silica together with a sulfur cure package comprised of elemental sulfur together with 1,6-bis (N,N′-dibenzylthiocarbamoyldithio)-hexane crosslinking agent and sulfenamide accelerator.

TL;DR: In this paper, a silica cake is characterized as a cake of precipitated silica having a specific surface area of 220 m2/g or greater and when the cake is dispersed in ion exchanged water so as to become a water base dispersion of 5.5 wt.% silica concentration and thereafter diluted, the dispersion exhibits a light scattering index (n-value) of 2 or higher.
Abstract: A highly transparent silica dispersion and a silica cake constituted of precipitated silica which can be efficiently obtained therefrom, exhibits small primary particle diameter and is easily dispersible. This silica cake is characterized in that it is a cake of precipitated silica having a BET specific surface area of 220 m2/g or greater and that when the cake is dispersed in ion exchanged water so as to become a water base dispersion of 5 wt.% silica concentration and thereafter diluted so as to have a silica concentration of 1.5 wt.%, the dispersion exhibits a light scattering index (n-value) of 2 or higher. This silica cake can be obtained by simultaneously adding an alkali silicate and a mineral acid to a reaction fluid having its pH value maintained at a constant value within the range of 7.5 to 11.5 and having its temperature maintained at 90oC or higher so as to effect reaction, thereby forming precipitated silica, and separating the precipitated silica in wet form from the reaction mixture.

TL;DR: A precipitated silicic acid (I) has a BET (Brunauer Emmett Teller) surface area of at least 135 m/g and a CTAB (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide) surface surface area at least 75 m /g.
Abstract: A precipitated silicic acid (I) has a BET (Brunauer Emmett Teller) surface area of at least 135 m /g and a CTAB (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide) surface area of at least 75 m /g. The ratio of BET/CTAB surface areas is at least 1.7. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a process for the preparation of the silicic acid (I); (2) vulcanizable rubber mixtures and vulcanizates containing (I); and (3) tires (I).

TL;DR: In this paper, a promoter of adhesion of a rubber to a metal cord based on precipitated silica modified by cobalt was developed, and the analysis of its qualitative and quantitative composition was carried out.
Abstract: A promoter of adhesion of a rubber to a metal cord based on precipitated silica modified by cobalt was developed. The analysis of its qualitative and quantitative composition was carried out. The effect of the obtained compounds on the technological and physico-mechanical properties of filled elastomeric compositions based on synthetic polyisoprene rubber and on the properties of metal cord–rubber systems was studied. It was shown that application of modified precipitated silica allows both making elastomeric compositions cheaper and improving their adhesive properties.
