TL;DR: In this article, a polyether composed of chemically-bonded recurring units that are constituted by a main chain represented by -R 1 -O-(R 1 is a divalent alkylene) and carry at least one hydrolyzable silicon group of formula (R 1, O is an univalent hydrocarbon group having 1W12C, selected from alkyl and aryl), with a fine silica powder having an average particle size ≤5μ, such as silica aerogel, precipitated silica, and a plasticizer, followed by
Abstract: PURPOSE: To give the title composition with excellent machanical properties, comprising a ≥1 hydrolyzable silicon group-carrying polyether with a specific molecular weight and a fine silica power. CONSTITUTION: The objective composition can be obtained by incorporating (A) a polyether composed of chemically-bonded recurring units that are constituted by a main chain represented by -R 1 -O-(R 1 is a divalent alkylene) and carry at least one hydrolyzable silicon group of formula (R 1 is a divalent alkylene) and carry at least one hydrolyzable silicon group of formula (R 2 is an univalent hydrocarbon group having 1W12C, selected from alkyl and aryl; X is hydride, halogen, alkoxy, acyloxy, ketoximate, amide, acid amide, aminoxy, or mercapto; a is 0W2), with (B) a fine silica powder having an average particle size ≤5μ, such as silica aerogel, precipitated silica, (C) a silanol condensation catalyst, and (D) a plasticizer, followed by adjusting the viscosity of the resulting composition to give a value of 100,000W500,000 poises. Said polyether has a molecular weight of 300W15,000. COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio

TL;DR: In this paper, a mixture of organopolysiloxane derivatives and precipitated silica is used to produce a high whiteness and can be well blended in a compounded silicone rubber.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrophobic precipitated silica which has a high whiteness and can be well blended in a compounded silicone rubber, and also to provide a method for production thereof and the use thereof. SOLUTION: This hydrophobic precipitated silica is produced by (a) preparing a mixture comprising an organopolysiloxane derivative and a precipitated silica, and (b) carrying out the conditioning of the mixture at a temperature of 10-150°C for 0.5-72 h. TL;DR: In this article, an organic-inorganic hybrid intumescent flame retardant coatings (IFRCs) is used to obtain an efficient and ecological strategy to obtain excellent fireproof performance.
Abstract: The organic-inorganic hybrid intumescent flame retardant coatings (IFRCs) is an efficient and ecological strategy to obtain excellent fireproof performance. The benign design on aliphatic waterborne polyester (AWP)-based IFRCs is modified by silicon-based aerogels and aluminum powder simultaneously, which is characterized by various techniques to explore the flame retardant mechanism. The results show that an appropriate precipitated silica aerogel (0.45 wt%) and aluminum powder (0.8 wt%) impart synergetic flame-retarding and smoke suppression effect to the AWP-based IFRCs, evidenced by the reduced fire growth index of 0.50 from 0.63 kW m−2 s−1, as well as the raised flame retardancy index of 2.52 from 1. Because the labyrinth barrier effect of amorphous silica-alumina gels derives from the in-situ cross-linking between the active Si(OH)4 and AlOOH or Al(OH)3, as well as the enhanced adhesive property between silanols and plywood surface, which facilitates the ceramic-like charring of AWP-based IFRCs, leading to the formation of continuous and tortuous char. It expands the design methods and flame-retarding mechanism of ecological organic-inorganic hybrid IFRCs.
