TL;DR: In this article, an aqueous dispersion D containing precipitated silica particles in a filter press is obtained, whereby a compacted filter cake is obtained; and then drying the filter cake in the compacted state as obtained after step (A).
Abstract: Thermal and/or acoustic insulation materials based on dried precipitated silica, having a total pore volume of from 1 to 5 cm 3 /g and optionally containing reinforcing fillers and/or opacifying agents, are prepared by: (A) filtering an aqueous dispersion D containing precipitated silica particles in a filter press, whereby a compacted filter cake is obtained; and then (B) drying the filter cake in the compacted state as obtained after step (A).

TL;DR: Self-adhesive silicone elastomer compositions contain as ingredients: (1) at least one siloxane-containing polymer having organic radicals capable of crosslinking, (2) at either treated or untreated, fumed or precipitated silica, and (3) a silicate having thermally or hydrolytically cleavable leaving groups O-R 2, which are silicate salts or low molecular weight silicate compounds, where R 2 is H, an organic radical, or, instead of O-r 2, a halogen, with the proviso that

TL;DR: The direct depolymerization of biogenic and other high surface area silica sources uses both simple and hindered diols to produce alkoxysilanes in one or two steps that can be separated and purified directly from the reaction mixture by distillation, extraction or filtration followed by solution modification and distillation or extraction.
Abstract: The direct depolymerization of biogenic and other high surface area silica sources uses both simple and hindered diols to produce alkoxysilanes in one or two steps that can be separated and purified directly from the reaction mixture by distillation, extraction or filtration followed by solution modification and distillation or extraction. The alkoxysilanes can take the form of spirosiloxanes or simple alkoxysilanes or oligomers thereof. Thereafter they can be treated with acid to produce colloidal or precipitated silica or aerosolized and combusted to provide fumed silica without the intervention of SiCl 4 .
