01 Jun 2003TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the influences of low materials (the vinyl content of polydimethylsiloxane and reinforcing silica) on the electrical and mechanical properties of silicone rubber for high voltage insulation.
Abstract: This study was carried out to investigate the influences of low materials (the vinyl content of polydimethylsiloxane and reinforcing silica) on the electrical and mechanical properties of silicone rubber for high voltage insulation. When the content of vinyl group was increased, cross-linking density and hardness were increased and tensile strength, volume resistivity and tracking resistance were improved. The mechanical properties and electrical properties of silicone rubber reinforced with fumed silica were higher than these of silicone rubber reinforced with precipitated silica. It was found that electrical and mechanical properties of silicone rubber were influenced by the water contents of silica very much.

TL;DR: In this article, the applicability of amorphous precipitated silicate in a low water/cement ratio grout formulation was investigated, and the rheological and mechanical properties of the proposed grout are very interesting since it exhibits no bleeding or segregation and reaches high compressive strength.
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to investigate the applicability of an amorphous precipitated silicate in a low water/cement ratio grout formulation. The rheological and mechanical properties of the proposed grout are very interesting since, from a practical point of view, it exhibits no bleeding or segregation and reaches high compressive strength. This grout could therefore be a cost-effective alternative to traditional silica fume grout. A field injection program indicates that the proposed grout formulation could be adequate for post-tensioning usage. This grout investigation has led to a European patent.

21 Sep 1995TL;DR: In this paper, cured-tire compositions of tires contain cured organic rubber, from 0 to 20 phr of reinforcing carbon black, and from 40 to 120 phr of reinforced amorphous precipitated silica wherein the silica has a surface area of from 160 to 340 m 2 /g and a pore diameter at the maximum of the volume pore size distribution function of from 5 to 19 nm.
Abstract: Cured tread rubber compositions of tires contain cured organic rubber, from 0 to 20 phr of reinforcing carbon black, and from 40 to 120 phr of reinforcing reinforced amorphous precipitated silica wherein the silica has a surface area of from 160 to 340 m 2 /g and a pore diameter at the maximum of the volume pore size distribution function of from 5 to 19 nm. The presence of such reinforcing silica provides improved tire performance characteristics, especially improved paved highway performance, to tires having treads of the cured tread rubber compositions.

03 May 1991TL;DR: In this paper, heat treating certain starting material precipitated silica particulates at a temperature of at least 700°C, for at least one minute, was used to obtain high water uptake and high BET and CTAB surfaces.
Abstract: Novel precipitated silica particulates having low water uptake and high BET and CTAB surfaces, well adapted as reinforcing fillers for, e.g., the silicones, are conveniently prepared by heat treating certain starting material precipitated silica particulates at a temperature of at least 700° C., for at least one minute.

TL;DR: In this article, a precipitated silica which contains an active substance with a characteristic, delayed release of active substance is prepared by adding the active substance during preparation of the precipitated Silica.
Abstract: A precipitated silica which contains an active substance with a characteristic, delayed release of active substance is prepared by adding the active substance during preparation of the precipitated silica. The precipitated silica containing the active substance may be added to oral hygiene agents such as toothpastes, topical fluoride preparations, dental materials or medicinal chewing gums.
