TL;DR: In this paper, a pulsed-laser beam detector with improved sun and temperature compensation is presented, which includes a plurality of photo detectors, an ambient temperature sensor, a sun exposure filter and a mirroring circuit, a microcontroller unit that includes pre-stored values in a database and an algorithm.
Abstract: A pulsed-laser beam detector with improved sun and temperature compensation. The detector includes a plurality of photo detectors, an ambient temperature sensor, a sun exposure filter and a mirroring circuit, a microcontroller unit that includes pre-stored values in a database and an algorithm—decision logic, a time base circuit that feeds microcontroller, an adjustable gain amplifier, a threshold setting circuit, a peak detector circuit, a comparator circuit, and a noise cancellation circuit. The gain of the amplifier is adjustable in real time to predetermined values, and the gain depends on the measured values from the detectors, and temperature sensor, that are preprocessed if necessary, and compared with the values already stored in the microcontroller unit and subjected to the program logic stored in the microcontroller that determines the gain of the amplifier.

TL;DR: In this article, the output voltage of a rectifier 3 is detected by a voltage detector circuit 17 and the controller 20 turns off a switch 16 to connect only a capacitor 14 to the output of the rectifier, so that the capacitances of the capacitors are decreased and the build up of power voltage is accelerated.
Abstract: The outputted voltage of a rectifier 3 is detected by a voltage detector circuit 17. When the detected voltage value is low (received radio wave is weak, distance is long), a controller 20 turns off a switch 16 to connect only a capacitor 14 to the output of the rectifier 3, so that the capacitances of the capacitors are decreased and the build up of a power voltage is accelerated. On the other hand, when the detected voltage value is higher than a prescribed level (received radio wave is powerful, distance is short), the controller 20 turns on the switch 16 to connect capacitors 14, 15 in parallel with the output of the rectifier 3, so that the capacitances of the capacitors are increased and a ripple is fully removed. Thus, communications can be made while preventing a malfunction due to the ripple.

TL;DR: In this article, an electrical circuit for use with a generator having an output port, the circuit to modify one of an electric current or voltage from the generator, is described, where the generator is a linear alternator positioned within an energy converting apparatus comprising a Stirling engine having a piston such that motion of the piston drives the linear alternators.
Abstract: In one aspect the invention relates to an electrical circuit for use with a generator having an output port, the circuit to modify one of an electric current or voltage from the generator. The circuit includes a rectifier to convert the alternating current from the generator to direct current, the rectifier having a first port and a second port, the rectifier first port in communication with the output port of the generator; and a direct current to alternating current inverter to convert the direct current from the rectifier to alternating current, the inverter having a first port and a second port, the first port of the inverter in communication with the second port of the rectifier. In one embodiment, the generator is a linear alternator positioned within an energy converting apparatus comprising a Stirling engine having a piston such that motion of the piston drives the linear alternator.

TL;DR: In this paper, a dual diode microstrip rectifier circuit operating at 35 GHz capable of harmonic harvesting is proposed to improve the RF-to-DC conversion efficiency, which can find potential applications in the design of millimeter-wave wireless power transmission and energy harvesting devices.
Abstract: In this paper, a structure of dual diode microstrip rectifier circuit operating at 35 GHz capable of harmonic harvesting is proposed to improve the RF-to-DC conversion efficiency. To do so, the conventional voltage doubler is first modified for 35 GHz operation. Then, a harmonic harvesting rectifier is designed and optimized in order to maximize the RF-to-DC conversion efficiency. Both circuits are fabricated and experimentally tested. Measured efficiency of 34% for 20 mW RF input power for harmonic harvester model and 23% for the same RF power level for the modified voltage doubler are obtained. Results of the harmonic harvester rectifier suggest about 20% efficiency improvement for medium power range (1 to100 mW) at millimeter-wave frequency compared to previously reported designs. The proposed structure can find potential applications in the design of millimeter-wave wireless power transmission and energy harvesting devices.
