Abstract: A new 3-phase-bridge PWM current-source-type (CST) (or buck-mode) PFC rectifier for telecommunications energy systems is introduced. The necessity, the advantages and disadvantages of this type PWM rectifier in the application are discussed. Then, a new power circuit topology and modulation scheme to eliminate or mitigate the disadvantages and obtain further new advantages of the PWM-current-source-type PFC rectifier are introduced. The features of the new rectifier obtained by the new PWM scheme have been confirmed through experimental results obtained from a 12 kW real product. Furthermore, variation of the efficiency and total-harmonic-distortion of the input line current for several DC-inductor arrangements are evaluated.

TL;DR: In this article, an integrated circuit (IC) is provided with a plurality of diode-based mm-wave peak voltage detectors (PVDs) and a multi-point low frequency calibration test is performed on one or more of the PVDs to determine and store a set of alternating current (AC) coefficients.
Abstract: An integrated circuit (IC) is provided with a plurality of diode based mm-wave peak voltage detectors (PVD)s. During a testing phase, a multi-point low frequency calibration test is performed on one or more of the PVDs to determine and store a set of alternating current (AC) coefficients. During operation of the IC, a current-voltage sweep is performed on a selected one of the PVDs to determine a process and temperature direct current (DC) coefficient. A peak voltage produced by the PVD in response to a high frequency radio frequency (RF) signal is measured to produce a first measured voltage. An approximate power of the RF signal is calculated by adjusting the first measured voltage using the DC coefficient and the AC coefficient.

TL;DR: In this paper, an automatic gain control 20 is adapted to compensate to equalise the gain for signals of different characteristics (e.g. the preamble region and the main data region of a signal retrieved from a tape).
Abstract: An automatic gain control 20 is adapted to compensate to equalise the gain for signals of different characteristics (e.g. the preamble region and the main data region of a signal retrieved from a tape). The signals are amplified by a VGA 32 , the output of which is monitored by a peak detector 44 , whose output is compared at amplifier 48 with a respective target value for the particular signal region from a associated counter or register 60, 62, 65 , to control the gain control signal applied to the VGA 32 by a gain control 50 . The output of the comparator amplifier 48 is monitored before and after the transition between the first and second signal regions and the reference values in the appropriate register 60, 62 incremented or decremented in accordance with any step in the output of the amplifier 48 , substantially to equalise the gain before and after the transition.

TL;DR: In this paper, a rectification and regulation circuit for a wireless power receiver includes a coil, a full-wave rectifier circuit and a control unit, and the control unit is operable to control switching of the transistors of the full wave rectifier so that the rectifier generates a rectified output for charging a battery of the wireless receiver by rectifying current through the coil or voltage across the coil.
Abstract: A rectification and regulation circuit for a wireless power receiver includes a coil, a full-wave rectifier circuit and a control unit. The full-wave rectifier has a first pair of controllable rectifiers including a first transistor connected to a first terminal of the coil and a second transistor connected to a second terminal of the coil. The control unit is operable to control switching of the transistors of the full-wave rectifier so that the full-wave rectifier (a) generates a rectified output for charging a battery of the wireless power receiver by rectifying current through the coil or voltage across the coil and (b) regulates the rectified output.
