Abstract: Gear eccentricities are one of the practical types of the manufacturing errors that affect the dynamic performance of a planetary gear train (PGT). Previous research about the effects of the gear eccentricities is abundant, and many of them focus on the parallel shaft gear set. However, almost none of them have considered the influence of the gear eccentricities on the mesh stiffness. In fact, the existence of the gear eccentricities can change the center distance and the mesh positions of a meshing gear pair, which will directly affect the mesh stiffness. Situation can be even more complex for the PGT with either sun gear eccentricities or planet gear eccentricities or both of them. Based on that, a new dynamic model of a PGT with gear eccentricities is established. The planar motions of the PGT and the mesh stiffness are integrated and solved simultaneously where the mesh stiffness is determined by the actual mesh positions of the meshing gear pair. The mesh stiffness is calculated by the energy potential method. The time-varying center distance caused by the gear eccentricities is also considered, which can result in the change of line of action, pressure angle, contact ratio and mesh positions. The influence of gear eccentricities on the dynamic performance of a 4-planet PGT is studied. Some useful results are derived at last.

Abstract: Considering flexible shafts, a coupled dynamic model for the gear transmission system of wheel reducer used in electric vehicle was developed. By combining the acoustics finite element modal for housing in Virtual Lab and the coupled dynamic model for gear transmission system, a simulation method was proposed for the prediction of the radiation noise for the wheel reducer. Then, the effects of different macro geometry gear parameters including pressure angle and helical angle on the dynamic response and radiation noise were investigated under the rated working condition. Results show that the peak-peak value of the transmission error dramatically falls in the starting zone, followed by an upward trend with the increase of the pressure angle for the low speed stage gear pair. The minimum transmission error and vibration acceleration occur when the pressure angle is 17°. The increase of the pressure angle does not affect the sound pressure level at the field point obviously. The design case with 17° pressure angle shows the optimum radiation noise level, which is 4.41dB less than the original model. Compared to the pressure angle, the helix angle has a major influence on the transmission error, vibration acceleration and acoustic radiation noise. With the increase of the helix angle, the time-varying transmission error curve becomes more smooth with a lower peak-peak value. Besides, the increase of helix angle results in lowering the varying and fluctuating trend of both vibration acceleration and acoustic radiation noise. The design case with 24° helix angle shows the prime radiation noise level, which is 7 dB less than the original scheme.

Abstract: Numerical modeling and values of the involutes curve length for a spur gear has been carried out using polar coordinate principles and application of calculus theorems. A set of values for base radius of the gear were considered from 10mm, 20mm, 30mm, 40mm and 50mm. The study also considered a pressure angle of 10°, 20°, 30°, 40°, and 50° for this set of values. The result of the length of involutes curve obtained at a pressure angle of 10° showed a significant increase in the length of the curve generated as the base radius increases that is at10° and for the set of the base radius values, the length obtained are:0.1555mm,0.311mm,0.4665mm,0.622mm and 0.7775mm. The result also revealed that at higher pressure angle of 50°, a better length of the curve was equally generated as seen from the plot.That is at 50° and with the base radius of 10mm, 20mm, 30mm, 40mm, and 50mm, the corresponding length of involutes are 7.1014mm, 14.203mm, 21.3045mm, 28.406mm and 35.5075mm. This equally validate the direct proportionality of length of curve as the square of tan a from equation.

Abstract: In today's mechanical transmissions most widely used, the gears, are spread across all industries. For this reason, their importance has become overwhelming, which is why we want to recall in this paper some important aspects regarding toothed wheels. It is the geometry, cinematic, the forces and the yields of these mechanisms, which will be presented in the work in the form of newly synthesized relations on modern bases. Another important aspect in toothed wheels is their synthesis by modern methods that avoid tooth interference during operation. To avoid the interference between teeth, we must know the minimum number of teeth of the driving wheel, in function of the pressure angle (normal on the pitch circle, alpha0), in function of the tooth inclination angle (beta) and in function of the transmission ratio (i). In optimal and high-efficiency gearing, gears require a modern design with increased coverage. These achievements can only be achieved today in the context of lowering the value of the alpha engagement angle. Through all the aspects presented, which relate to the dynamics of gears, the work can be considered among those of the optimal dynamic synthesis of the gears.

Abstract: Due to the small size and harsh transmission conditions of small-module gears, it is very difficult to measure gear characteristics with a modulus smaller than 1 mm. We proposed an optical coherence tomography (OCT) method for measuring small-module gears. Testing of a 30-tooth copper gear with a small modulus of 0.5 mm was carried out for the measurement of its modulus, tooth parameter, tooth number, pressure angle, modification coefficient, and tooth thickness by using OCT. In addition, the influencing factors on the measurement were discussed. The whole teeth profile of a 0.2 mm modulus gear was imaged by processing of the data collected from different clamping angles. Compared with the visual imaging without depth information and small-scale microscopic imaging, the OCT method has shown its superiority, and it has potential in the application of the measurement of micro gears with a small modulus of less than 0.2 mm.

The system comprises a hydraulic device, a hydraulic detecting device and a hydraulic controlling device, wherein the hydraulic detecting device is used for detecting the oil pressure of the hydraulic cylinder lower cavity in thehydraulic device and timely transmits the oil pressure to the hydraulic controlling device; and when the oil pressure exceeds the normal range, a computer in the hydraulic detecting device controls arelated electromagnetic switching valve to switch over between a primary hydraulic pump and a standby hydraulic pump so as to ensure that the oil pressure of the hydraulic cylinder lower cavity in the hydraulic device is kept within the normal range and to ensure that a piston pushes a side pressing roller to carry out secondary angle pressing operation on the side part of the plate blank. With adoption of the system and the using method, the straight crack defect of the steel plate sides can be avoided, and the product quality is improved; and in addition, intelligent control over hydraulicequipment is realized to the maximum, so that the labor intensity of a site worker is greatly lowered and efficient production of a site is facilitated.

A method for positioning the detection device is provided and includes the follow steps: determining a pressure angle between the feedback rack and the small tooth head; determining the number of teeth of small tooth head; determining the transmission ratio; calculating the number of teeth of the feedback rack according to the determined transmission ratio; selecting the modulus and calculating the center circle radius of the feedback rack and the small tooth head; arranging the small tooth head on the center circle and balancing the distance from other parts on the partition plate to prevent interference or small clearance, and adjusting the modulus to obtain the arranging position of the sensor small tooth head; adjusting the modulus to adjust the radius of the center circle, and ensuring the length of the rack can detect the angle of the full stroke of the slat. The invention can arrange the detection device capable of accurately detecting the slat tilt angle in the leading edge of an aircraft with tight space.

Abstract: Gearbox whine noise can seriously reduce the interior sound quality in an electric passenger car. In this work, a six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) dynamic model of a helical gear system was constructed and the mechanism for generation of whine noise was analyzed. The root cause of the problem was found through noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) testing of the gearbox and the vehicle. A rigid-elastic coupling dynamics model of the reducer assembly was then developed. The accuracy of the model was then validated via modal testing. The structure-borne noise of the reducer under full acceleration conditions was predicted using the acoustic structure coupling model and the rigid-elastic coupling model of the reducer. Gear parameters including the pressure angle, the helix angle and the contact ratio were studied to determine their effects on the whine noise. Gear tooth microgeometry modification parameters were then optimized to reduce the transmission error of the first pair of meshing gears. Finally, the whine noise from the gearbox was eliminated.

Abstract: This study investigates the influence of asymmetric involute teeth profiles for helical gears on the bending stress. Theoretically, bending stress has been estimated in spur involute gears which have symmetric teeth profile by based on the Lewis, 1892 equation. Later, this equation is developed by, Abdullah, 2012. to determine the effect of an asymmetric tooth profile for the spur gear on the bending stress. And then these equations are applied with stress concentration factor once for symmetric and once other for asymmetric teeth profile. In this paper, the bending stresses for various types of helical gear with various types of asymmetric teeth profile are calculated numerically for defined the stress concentration factor. The numerical solution based on the finite element method technique which that done by using the software simulation SolidWorks 2016. The results of this study indicate that the helical gear drive with asymmetric teeth profile having 'loaded side pressure angle' of ( ) and 'unloaded side pressure angle' of ( ) is better than a helical gear with standard teeth profile having pressure angle of ( ) from the regarding of tooth bending strength. Also, notes that the great enhancement in the results of maximum tooth bending stress for modified involute of tooth profile compared with the standard teeth profile. In addition to, predict the equation of stress concentration factor which is a function of both unloaded side pressure angle and helix angle and then it used with Abdullah equation for to determine the nominal stresses in the root fillet.

The adjusting and fixing device comprises an adapter tooling which is fixedly connected with the front end of a base through an angle of attack adjusting block and fixedly connected with a nozzle of a supersonic injector. The bottom surface of a test piece installation tooling is fixedly connected with the base. A flow guide tooling is fixedly connected between the test piece installation tooling and the middle front part of the base. A test piece is fixedlyconnected to the top surface of the front part of the test piece installation tooling. The top surface of the rear part of the test piece installation tooling is fixedly connected with an induced shock wave tooling. The radius of the leading edge, the sweep back angle and the side pressure angle of the induced shock wave tooling, the angle of attack of the test piece installation tooling, the size of the included angle of the angle of attack adjusting block and the gap size between the induced shock wave tooling and the test piece are used to realize the formation of the surface flow field state of the test piece during the test. The flow guide tooling is used for guiding the low-energy fluid of a boundary layer affected by the cooling of the nozzle. According to the invention, the simulation of a local high-state thermal environment by a small power wind tunnel can be achieved.

Abstract: Purpose The aim of this paper is to study the effect of pressure angle and helix angle on bending stress at the root of helical gear tooth under dynamic state. Gear design is a highly complex process. The consistent demand to build low-cost, quieter and efficient machinery has resulted in a gradual change in gear design. Gear parameters such as pressure angle, helix angle, etc. affect the load-carrying capacity of gear teeth. Adequate load-carrying capacity of a gear is a prime requirement. The failure at the critical section because of bending stress is an unavoidable phenomenon. Besides this fact, the extent of these failures can be reduced by a proper gear design. The stresses produced under dynamic loading conditions in machine member differ considerably from those produced under static loading. Design/methodology/approach The present work is intended to study the effect of pressure angle and helix angle on the bending stress at the root of helical gear tooth under dynamic state. The photostress method has been used as experimental methods. Theoretical analysis was carried out by velocity factor method and Spott’s equation. LS DYNA has been used for finite element (FE) analysis. Findings The results show that experimental method gives a bending stress value that is closer to the true value, and bending stress varies with pressure angle and helix angle. The photostress technique gives clear knowledge of stress pattern at root of tooth. Originality/value The outcomes of this work help the designer use optimum weight-to-torque ratio of gear; this is ultimately going to reduce the total bulk of the gear box.

Abstract: A gear pitting modeling method based on probability distribution comprises: first, establishing a tooth face probability pitting plane distribution model, with pitting randomly distributed along toothwidth and normally distributed along tooth height; second, acquiring meshing line length variation by means of image processing; third, establishing one-to-one correspondence relation between the meshing line length variation and pressure angle; fourth, comprehensively considering hertz contact stiffness, bending stiffness, shear stiffness and axial compression stiffness to precisely calculate gear time-varying mesh stiffness and solve internal excitation of a gear system. The gear pitting modeling method based on probability distribution has the advantages that the defects are overcome that,for instance, a traditional pitting model is greatly deviated from the actual and complex pitting distribution is unable to be handled; model calculation precision is improved; internal excitation ofa pitting gear system is precisely calculated; gear pitting modeling based on probability distribution is completed.

Abstract: The invention discloses a parametric plunger movement law-based minimum base circle cam profile design method. The method comprises the following steps of: calculating a pressure angle, a curvature radius and a contact stress of a cam according to a plunger movement lift curve, a pump-end fuel pressure characteristic curve, a roller diameter matched with the cam and a set base circle radius initial value; carrying out iterative calculation through gradually increasing the base circle radius until the pressure angle, the curvature radius and the contact stress satisfy design criteria of pressure angles, curvature radii and stress conditions, so as to obtain a minimum base circle radius satisfying a cam profile design criterion; and obtaining a finally determined cam profile according to a lift curve of a plunger movement process, the minimum base circle radius and the roller diameter matched with the cam. The method is capable of rapidly obtaining minimum cam base circle radii suitablefor cam lift curves, so as to rapidly obtain complete oil supply cams.

Abstract: A rotary arm restricts the rotation of a first sun gear or a second sun gear according to forward/reverse rotation drive of sheet discharge rollers. As a result, a rotating direction of a transmission gear coupled to the sheet discharge rollers is switched. If θ1A denotes a pressure angle of gear teeth of a gear portion of the first sun gear and θ2A denotes a pressure angle of gear teeth of a first planetary gear, a relationship of θ2A+0.5°≤θ1A≤θ2A+1.5° is satisfied.

The method solves the problem of tooth surface distortion when worm wheel grinding is conducted on a helical gear with axial modification, calculates the additional motion quantity of a grinding wheel during worm wheel dressing according to the warp quantum of a tooth surface on the basis of building a tooth surface warp quantum calculation model during worm wheel grinding of the axial modified helical gear, overlays additional motion on conventional worm wheeldressing motion to change a pressure angle of left and right tooth surfaces of the grinding wheel, and compensates tooth surface distortion by continuously changing the pressure angle in a width direction of the grinding wheel aiming at a continuous change trend of a profile pressure angle of a gear end section during tooth surface distortion, thereby improving the accuracy of worm wheel grindingof the axial modified helical gear.

Abstract: Gear is a machine element used to transmit motion and power between rotating shafts by means of progressive engagement of projections called teeth. Gears are classified according to the relative position of the axes of the shaft, type of gearing, peripheral velocity of the gears and position of teeth on gear surface. Presently gears are suffered by backlash the amount by which the width of a tooth space exceeds the thickness of the engaging tooth on the pitch circles, undercut a condition in generated gear teeth when any part of the fillet curve lies inside of a line drawn tangent to the working profile at its lowest point and interference is an important aspect of kinematics of gearing. When the gear tooth tries to dig below the base circle of mating gear then the gear tooth action shall be non-conjugate and violate the fundamental law of gearing this non conjugate action is called the interference. These defects can be eliminated by increasing the pressure angle, by increasing the addendum of mating gear and another way of increasing the load capacity of transmissions is to modify the involute geometry. This has been a standard practice in sophisticated gear design for many years; the nomenclature describing these types of gear modifications can be quite confusing with reference to addendum modification or profile shift. An additional alteration that is very rarely used is to make the gears asymmetric with different pressure angles for each side of the tooth In this study, geometric design of asymmetric gear involute meshing is done. This method is appropriate for the geometric design of spur gears with a small teeth number and is based on the generalized model of involute meshing.
