TL;DR: In this paper, a finite element study was conducted to investigate the influence of the gear pressure angle associated with rim thickness on gear tooth crack initiation and propagation besides the fatigue life, and the results showed that the gear forces associated with the rim thickness had a significant effect on the crack initiation position and crack propagation path in addition of fatigue life.
Abstract: A finite element study was conducted to investigate the influence of the gear pressure angle associated with rim thickness on gear tooth crack initiation and propagation besides the fatigue life. Three values of pressure angles (15 o , 20 o , and 22 o ) are taken in account associated with three values of rim thickness. A finite element programs FRANC2D and ABAQUS were used to simulate gear tooth initiation and propagation. The analysis used principles of linear elastic mechanics. FRANC program had a unique feature to automated crack propagation using automated re-meshing scheme. The computed stress intensity factors used for determine crack propagation direction. With a simple Paris equation, fatigue life, has been calculated. The results show that the gear pressure angle associated with rim thickness has a significant effect on the crack initiation position and crack propagation path in addition of fatigue life.

Abstract: The invention discloses a structure and method for using a cam curve for achieving the equivalent stiffness characteristic of an independent suspension A damping shock absorber and a push rod of the suspension are integrated, the upper end of an integrated shock absorber-push rod assembly is connected with a vehicle frame through a rubber shock absorber, and the lower end of the integrated shock absorber-push rod assembly is connected with a cross arm of the suspension through a cam module; and the molded line of the cam module is designed, so that the sprung mass/unsprung mass relative to the displacement and the spring compression amount satisfies a specific relation, and the equivalent stiffness of a suspension system is a fixed value A reverse method is used for establishing function relationships between the cam profile curve and parameters such as the rotating angle of the cross arm, a pressure angle and the inclination angles of the shock absorbers, a matlab program is used for conducting iteration on the molded line of the cam module to obtain a solution, and a theoretical profile and an actual profile of the cam module are obtained Through reasonable design of the molded line of the cam curve, the equivalent stiffness nonlinear characteristic caused by design of a guide mechanism of the suspension is eliminated The structure and method can be applied to the guide mechanism of any independent suspension in principle

Abstract: PURPOSE: A control method of a cam system for generation of NC(numerical control) code of spur gear is provided to reduce interval number and NC code length and therefore working time of the spur gear through optimization of interval length by maintaining error in all intervals into permissible error range using GSS(golden section search) method. CONSTITUTION: In a step(S1), tooth number, module, pressure angle, arbitrary permissible error are inputted by a console. In a step(S2), variable such as angle at pitch circle, basic circle, root circle radius and arbitrary point related to tooth configuration of the gear is produced. In a step(S3), interval variable is initialized with substitution of 1. In a step(S4), interval error between corresponding interval length and predetermined interval length is produced by using GSS method. In a step(S5), the step S4 is repeated if the produced error length is larger than permissible error, and, if not, corresponding interval length is stored with adding of 1 to interval variable. In a step(S6), the step S4 is repeated if interval length corresponding to interval variable added with 1 is larger than 1 micrometer, and if not, length of last interval is stored. In a step(S7), NC code is generated according to position of a point between intervals.
