TL;DR: In this article, some aspects of the estimation of the density function of a univariate probability distribution are discussed, and the asymptotic mean square error of a particular class of estimates is evaluated.
Abstract: This note discusses some aspects of the estimation of the density function of a univariate probability distribution. All estimates of the density function satisfying relatively mild conditions are shown to be biased. The asymptotic mean square error of a particular class of estimates is evaluated.

TL;DR: In this article, a replica-exchange method was proposed to overcome the multiple-minima problem by exchanging non-interacting replicas of the system at several temperatures, which allows the calculation of any thermodynamic quantity as a function of temperature in that range.

TL;DR: A novel class of information-theoretic divergence measures based on the Shannon entropy is introduced, which do not require the condition of absolute continuity to be satisfied by the probability distributions involved and are established in terms of bounds.
Abstract: A novel class of information-theoretic divergence measures based on the Shannon entropy is introduced. Unlike the well-known Kullback divergences, the new measures do not require the condition of absolute continuity to be satisfied by the probability distributions involved. More importantly, their close relationship with the variational distance and the probability of misclassification error are established in terms of bounds. These bounds are crucial in many applications of divergence measures. The measures are also well characterized by the properties of nonnegativity, finiteness, semiboundedness, and boundedness. >

TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider a group of individuals who must act together as a team or committee, and assume that each individual in the group has his own subjective probability distribution for the unknown value of some parameter.
Abstract: Consider a group of individuals who must act together as a team or committee, and suppose that each individual in the group has his own subjective probability distribution for the unknown value of some parameter. A model is presented which describes how the group might reach agreement on a common subjective probability distribution for the parameter by pooling their individual opinions. The process leading to the consensus is explicitly described and the common distribution that is reached is explicitly determined. The model can also be applied to problems of reaching a consensus when the opinion of each member of the group is represented simply as a point estimate of the parameter rather than as a probability distribution.
