TL;DR: It is proved that CCS defines a subclass of the concurrent systems definable by means of net theory, i.e. the class of systems composed of interacting sequential automata, to transfer analytic concepts and techniques from a theory to the other, as for example the observation equivalence notion defined inside the CCS.
Abstract: The comparison between Milner’s CCS and Petri nets leads to prove that CCS defines a subclass of the concurrent systems definable by means of net theory, i.e. the class of systems composed of interacting sequential automata. The proof is based on (the construction of) an isomorphism between Milner’s communicating systems class and a subclass of Petri nets. The paper fully presents the proof for a subclass of communicating systems (where neither value passing nor finite unlimited instances of agents are allowed) and a specific subclass of nets, the SA2 PT class (a restriction of the Superposed Automata nets class). Some hints how to extend the proof to the whole CCS conclude the paper. This result allows to transfer analytic concepts and techniques from a theory to the other, as for example the observation equivalence notion defined inside the CCS. The paper is fully self-consistent.

TL;DR: This paper considers the model of Time Petri Nets extended with time parameters and its use to perform on-line diagnosis of distributed systems and proposes to base the method on unfoldings, which determines the causal relation between events in the model that explain the observation.
Abstract: This paper considers the model of Time Petri Nets (TPNs) extended with time parameters and its use to perform on-line diagnosis of distributed systems. We propose to base the method on unfoldings. Given a partial observation, as a possibly structured set of actions, our method determines the causal relation between events in the model that explain the observation. It can also synthesize parametric constraints associated with these explanations. The method is implemented in the tool ROMEO. We present its application to the diagnosis of the example of a cowshed with pigs.

TL;DR: This paper discusses the formal composition of Petri nets models used for the process description and control in service-oriented automation systems and considers two forms for the composition of services, notably the offline composition applied during the design phase and the online composition related to the synchronization of PetRI nets models on the fly.
Abstract: In service-oriented systems, composition of services is required to build new, distributed and more complex services, based on the logic behavior of individual ones. This paper discusses the formal composition of Petri nets models used for the process description and control in service-oriented automation systems. The proposed approach considers two forms for the composition of services, notably the offline composition, applied during the design phase, and the online composition, related to the synchronization of Petri nets models on the fly. An experimental case study is used to illustrate the proposed composition approach.

TL;DR: HYPENS is an open source tool to simulate timed discrete, continuous and hybrid Petri nets using the large set of plot functions available in Matlab to represent the results of the simulation in a clear and intuitive way.
Abstract: HYPENS is an open source tool to simulate timed discrete, continuous and hybrid Petri nets. It has been developed in Matlab to allow designer and user to take advantage of several functions and structures already defined in Matlab, such as optimization routines, stochastic functions, matrices and arrays, etc. The tool can also be easily interfaced with other Matlab programs and be used for analysis and optimization via simulation. The large set of plot functions available in Matlab allow one to represent the results of the simulation in a clear and intuitive way.
