TL;DR: An efficient tool has been developed to enable systems-analysts and plant-engineers to express their interpretations of the process behaviour in a problem- and system-oriented way and to facilitate automatic translation of process models into machine-dependent form.
Abstract: Preprocessed Cause-Consequence-Diagrams are becoming increasingly important to the application of advanced process supervisory systems. It is, however, very time-consuming and error-prone to transform these diagrams by hand into a form suited to on-line systems. An efficient tool has therefore been developed to enable systems-analysts and plant-engineers to express their interpretations of the process behaviour in a problem- and system-oriented way. Yet, the method is sufficiently formalized to facilitate automatic translation of process models into machine-dependent form.
