TL;DR: A research framework and exploratory case study are presented that assess success factors and impacts of mobile business applications based on the concept of task/technology fit and indicate a need for simple but highly functional mobile applications that complement existing information systems.
Abstract: Based on the concept of task/technology fit, a research framework and exploratory case study are presented that assess success factors and impacts of mobile business applications. Preliminary empirical evidence for the applicabilit y of the framework was obtained for a mobile electronic procurement system implemented at a Fortune 100 company. For different user groups, the relationships between the characteristics of technology and tasks, usage, and organizational impacts were analyzed. The results indicate a need for simple but highly functional mobile applications that complement existing information systems. The study provides a basis for further research to improve the design and management of business applications based on emerging technologies.

TL;DR: The authors analyzes the growth of international sourcing within the firm as a four-phase development process and presents a hierarchical progression of international to global sourcing strategies and the characteristics associated with each strategy.
Abstract: The 1980s witnessed rapid competitive changes globally. As U.S. firms struggled to maintain world market share, they relied increasingly on international part sourcing to sustain competitiveness. As many U.S. firms became more experienced with international procurement, worldwide sourcing shifted from a reactive to a proactive strategy intended to provide a competitive advantage. This article analyzes the growth of international sourcing within the firm as a four-phase development process. It also presents a hierarchical progression of international to global sourcing strategies and the characteristics associated with each strategy.

TL;DR: In this paper, the performance objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) are identified to improve process and performance management in PPPs, and the relative significance and difference of performance objectives for different stakeholders are presented based on a structured questionnaire survey.
Abstract: Public–private partnerships (PPPs) have been applied widely in the global construction market. During the life cycle of PPP projects, their performance could be affected by a number of factors and their interactions, which might cause the inefficiency and ineffectiveness of the projects. Previous researches on PPPs mainly concentrated on the procurement, success measurement and risk management of PPPs, but paid little attention to the process factors that can strongly influence the performance of PPPs. In order to improve process and performance management in PPPs, the performance objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) are identified to improve the partnership outcomes. Based on the goal‐setting theory, 15 performance objectives are selected. The relative significance and difference of performance objectives for different stakeholders are presented based on a structured questionnaire survey. The survey results show that all identified objectives are important. In spite of stakeholders' common op...

Purchasing and Supply Chain Management introduces the reader to the key principles underlying purchasing and supply management. It provides them with an in-depth discussion of purchasing and supply issues both from a strategic and managerial perspective. Views on purchasing issues are, when possible, illustrated with research results from national and international specialist literature. TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present preliminary propositions concerning implications for the development of what they term "circular supply chains", defined here as the embodiment of circular economy principles within supply chain management.
Abstract: Circular modes of production, known as the circular economy, are welcomed in political and business circles to overcome the shortcomings of traditional linear operating models. This article presents preliminary propositions concerning implications for the development of what we term ‘circular supply chains’, defined here as the embodiment of circular economy principles within supply chain management. Our propositions are based on the following arguments: a shift from product ownership to leasing and access in supply chain relationships; the relevance of structural flexibility and start-ups in regional or local loops; open and closed material loops in technical and biological cycles; closer collaboration within and beyond immediate industry boundaries and public and private procurement in the service industry as a lever for the scaling up of circular business models. We discuss what these circular economy principles mean in terms of supply chain challenges and conclude with limitations and future research agenda.
