TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present requirements, solutions and challenges of a complete digital ramp-up validation focussed on assembly in the automotive industry, under the premise to reduce physical prototypes.
Abstract: The resulting competitive situation in automotive industry and increasing market demands necessarily lead to higher complexity in product development, production planning and ramp-up processes. Longer production lifecycles based on flexible manufacturing systems with a rising number of integration processes during the running production call for new challenges, especially in the field of production engineering. One key challenge for gaining important time and cost potentials in production engineering projects is an early digital validation of the ramp-up. Under the premise to reduce physical prototypes, the following work critically presents requirements, solutions and challenges of a complete digital ramp-up validation focussed on assembly in automotive industry.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examine the manufacturing requirements in a wider scope, to revisit existing paradigms so as to clarify the limitations and bottlenecks, and eventually to identify future challenges for better sustainable manufacturing.
Abstract: Sustainable manufacturing is regarded as a new manufacturing paradigm that provides an abstract representation of a manufacturing system. Although many manufacturing paradigms have been proposed, most of them are based on the assumption that the boundary of a manufacturing system can be defined based on customers’ requirements. However, sustainable manufacturing is different. It has evolved from the past manufacturing paradigms and brings new challenges to today’s practice. Within the context, the objective of this work is to examine the manufacturing requirements in a wider scope, to revisit existing paradigms so as to clarify the limitations and bottlenecks, and eventually to identify future challenges for better sustainable manufacturing. This paper reports our findings on what the requirements and challenges are, and reveals a Cloud-based approach toward better sustainability.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a literature review that intends to be complete including 209 papers on production management on footwear industry since 1980. But a review has not yet been available on the Production Management literature.
Abstract: This paper presents a literature review that intends to be complete including 209 papers on Production Management on footwear industry since 1980 Such a review has not yet been available on the Production Management literature This review was organized by means of a classification encompassing 5 dimensions: paper origin, area of Production Engineering focused in the paper, sub area of Production Engineering focused, research procedure used, and the paper source Once classified and organized, the literature review about Production Management on footwear industry was the base of a broad theme analysis This analysis was based on two basic points: i) a quantitative study on the areas of Production Engineering focused in the papers such as the origin, source, and research procedure used and ii) a qualitative study on the main subjects and objectives discussed and met in those papers The main contributions of this paper are being useful to increase the amount of literature available on Production Management in the footwear industry and suggestions for future researches
