TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a holistic approach that treats a system as "emerging from the interactions between its parts" in order to support the development of the next generation of intelligent manufacturing systems.

TL;DR: New approaches for the logistics evaluation of production are introduced: monitoring and diagnostic methods support the analysis of production flows and order structures, allowing for a quantified turn to account of hidden potentials.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors found that engineering courses should be designed with the expectation that many students will be engaged in decision making at the managerial level in situations involving considerable uncertainty, and it is therefore important to establish which engineering disciplines provide skills with high potential for carryover into management.
Abstract: SUMMARY A number of international studies have suggested that good performance in manufacturing companies is usually correlated with the employment of good quality engineering graduates in senior production management posts. This suggests that engineering courses should be designed with the expectation that many students will be engaged in decision making at the managerial level in situations involving considerable uncertainty. It is therefore important to establish which engineering disciplines provide skills with high potential for ‘carry-over’ into management. The conclusion reached in this paper is that control systems is such a subject, especially as a philosophy can be established in which mathematical models move from the general to the particular.

Abstract: This paper presents a discussion of manufacturing systems engineering and manufacturing systems management as one of the major efforts that concern systems engineers. There are many ways in which we can describe systems engineering and within this manufacturing systems engineering and management. This paper takes a multifaceted view of systems engineering. It attempts to describe systems engineering in terms of a relatively large number of trilogies. The process view of systems engineering is expanded on in some detail. We identify three major life cycle processes for systems engineering: research, development, test and evaluation; acquisition and manufacturing; and planning and marketing. We present a brief discussion of systems engineering from the perspective of each of these life cycles and then illustrate how acquisition and manufacturing forms a vital part of systems engineering efforts. We conclude with a discussion of the necessary role of manufacturing and acquisition as it applies to the systems engineering and management of contemporary systems including some 21/sup st/ century projections.

TL;DR: In this article, the ideas to perfect engineering cost management system and ways to improve the management of engineering cost are elaborated in order to make full use of limit labor and material resources to receive satisfied economic and social benefits for projects.
Abstract: In order to realize effective control and proper determination of engineering cost the ideas to perfect engineering cost management system and ways to improve the management of engineering cost are elaborated in order to make full use of limit labor and material resources to receive satisfied economic and social benefits for projects.
