TL;DR: The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (USA) will soon operate one of the largest fleets of low-floor light rail vehicles (LF-LRVs) in the world as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (USA) will soon be operating one of the largest fleets of low floor light rail vehicles (LF-LRVs) in the world. The project team has had to meet many challenges presented by the integration of the new design into one of the most severe operating environments in North America. This paper presents a brief historical review of the project, covering the decision to select low floor cars and the resulting car configuration issues. The key challenges to the program and some resulting technical features of the car are reviewed. The approach of the project team to resolving problems is discussed, with experiences of operator, consultant and carbuilder presented. In conclusion, the prototype testing program is discussed, with a review of its objectives and presentation of the results achieved to date.

TL;DR: The method uses the time value of funds theory to optimize the project's installation process, and puts the equipment which occupy large fund to the later project as much as possible so that the cost of construction can be reduced ultimately.
Abstract: It is crucial to control the cost of power plant. The paper starts with the fund flow that has an influence on construction cost, the cost control method in power plant installation engineering based on the time value of funds is proposed, it requests the condition that there is no influence on the project's duration and quality, uses the time value of funds theory to optimize the project's installation process, puts the equipment which occupy large fund to the later project as much as possible, so that we can reduce the interest in the construction duration, and the cost of construction can be reduced ultimately. Finally, an example is given to verify the reliability of the method.

TL;DR: The theory of 'entropy weight' is applied to modify the experts' subjective weight and produce the comprehensive weights of a multi-attribute fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model and it is proved to be more scientific and reasonable.
Abstract: Project delivery methods not only define the roles, responsibilities and risks of the parties involved but also set the framework for project execution. The decision made in the selection of a project delivery method for a project impacts all phases of execution of the project. In view of the shortcomings of the attribute weight setting method used currently in the decision model of choosing project delivery methods, which is typically characterized by subjective evaluations, the theory of 'entropy weight' is applied to modify the experts' subjective weight and produce the comprehensive weights. A multi-attribute fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model is thus established, and the technique for order preference by the similarity to ideal solution is applied to rank the alternatives. Finally; an example is given to demonstrate the use of such model and it is proved to be more scientific and reasonable.

TL;DR: In this paper, a project engineering control system and method consisting of a central server device, a control end, a mission end and a decision end is described. But the authors do not specify the control end's role.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a project engineering control system and method thereof, which comprise a central server device, a control end, a mission end and a decision end. When the mission end connects to the central server device through the network to transmit the working daily record to the central server device, the central server device will update the document management record in the database, and connects to the central server device through the network based on the plan data. The control end pre-establishes or issues a checking rule immediately on the central server device, so as to check the abnormal condition of the document management record, and assign an abnormal label to it. When the central server device finds the abnormal label, it informs the decision end to issue a processing opinion, and then inform the control end to require the mission end to eliminate the abnormal condition according to the processing opinion.

TL;DR: In this article, the challenges of building and sustaining commitment in culturally and globally diverse teams are examined in a field study of 35 multinational, high-technology product developments, and specific suggestions for enhancing commitment within the project organization, its team members and partners are presented.
Abstract: Commitment from all stakeholders is a critical condition for project success, especially for complex and multinational undertakings that involve intricate networks of resource and power sharing. The challenges of building and sustaining commitment in culturally and globally diverse teams are examined in a field study of 35 multinational, high-technology product developments. The results of this study identify (1) the components of commitment in various stakeholder groups, (2) the drivers and barriers to obtaining and sustaining commitment, and (3) the leadership style most conducive to fostering an organizational environment for high levels of project ownership and commitment to established project objectives. The findings provide an insight into the factors which influence team behavior and performance in complex multinational work environments, and a framework for assessing project leadership and managerial effectiveness. The paper concludes with specific suggestions for enhancing commitment within the project organization, its team members and partners. The presentation will be designed to stimulate critical thinking, dialog and experience sharing.
