TL;DR: In this paper, a method and system for identifying a network path between a source node and a destination node is described, which includes generating a proxy trace message at the source node, transmitting the proxy trace messages over the network path towards the destination node, and receiving the proxy traces at the original source node.
Abstract: A method and system for identifying a network path between a source node and a destination node are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method includes generating a proxy trace message at the source node, transmitting the proxy trace message over the network path towards the destination node, and receiving the proxy trace message at the source node. The proxy trace message follows a path taken by application messages transmitted by the source node and the received proxy trace message includes addresses of the destination node and proxies in the network path.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a payment method for a financial transaction using a proxy object, which can be associated with multiple payment accounts, for example accounts associated with credit cards and debit cards.
Abstract: Various embodiments are related to apparatuses and methods for paying for a financial transaction using a proxy object. The proxy object can be associated with multiple payment accounts, for example accounts associated with credit cards and debit cards. A consumer can present the object to a payee to make a payment, and the payee can use a device to obtain information from the object. For example, when the proxy object is a proxy card similar to a credit card, the payee can use a card reader to read information from the magnetic stripe of the proxy card. The information can be transmitted to a financial system, and the financial system can communicate with a computer system that can select a payment account associated with the proxy card to use for the payment. The financial system can process the payment using the selected payment account.

TL;DR: In this paper, a confidence-based authentication discovery scheme is implemented at a proxy, which assumes that some level of unauthenticated browsing is allowed prior to enforcing authentication at the proxy.
Abstract: A confidence-based authentication discovery scheme is implemented at a proxy. The scheme assumes that some level of unauthenticated browsing is allowed prior to enforcing authentication at the proxy. Once a known and trusted set of identity providers has been accessed and the user is required to authenticate at the proxy (e.g., as a result of policy), the proxy initiates Federated Single Sign-On (F-SSO) to one or more (or, preferably, all) known sites accessed by the browser. This F-SSO operation is performed seamlessly, preferably without the user's knowledge (after the user allows an initial trust decision between the proxy acting as a service provider and the external identity provider). The proxy collates the results and, based on the trust it has with those sites, produces a confidence score. That score is then used as input into policy around whether or not a user should be permitted to access a particular site.

TL;DR: In this article, the small sample properties of the coefficient of determination in a linear regression model with multivariate t errors when proxy variables are used instead of unobservable regressors were investigated.
Abstract: In this paper we consider the small sample properties of the coefficient of determination in a linear regression model with multivariate t errors when proxy variables are used instead of unobservable regressors. The results show that if the unobservable variable is an important variable, the adjusted coefficient of determination can be more unreliable in small samples than the unadjusted coefficient of determination from both viewpoints of the bias and the MSE.

TL;DR: An enhanced Morris method is developed as a better proxy of the Sobol’ index for the input with arbitrary distribution, and it does not increase the model evaluations compared with the original Morris method.
Abstract: Global sensitivity analysis (GSA) aims at quantifying the effects of inputs on the output response globally. GSA is useful for identifying a few important inputs from a model with large number of inputs, which is critical for structural design and optimization. The method of Sobol’ and the Morris method are two popular GSA techniques, and they have been widely used in many areas of science and engineering. It was proved that the Morris index is a good proxy of the method of Sobol’ in some papers. However, some of the quantitative relationships between Morris index and Sobol’ index are established by only considering the input with standard uniform distribution. When the input does not follow standard uniform distribution, some relationships are no longer valid. Therefore, an enhanced Morris method is developed as a better proxy of the Sobol’ index for the input with arbitrary distribution, and it does not increase the model evaluations compared with the original Morris method. Test examples show the performance of the approximation and its usefulness in practice.
