TL;DR: The proxy report version of the Huntington’s disease health-related quality of life questionnaire is a useful complementary tool to self-assessment, and a promising alternative when individual patients with advanced HD are unable toSelf-report.
Abstract: Huntington’s disease (HD) is a fatal, neurodegenerative disease for which there is no known cure. Proxy evaluation is relevant for HD as its manifestation might limit the ability of persons to report their health-related quality of life (HrQoL). This study explored patient–proxy ratings of HrQoL of persons at different stages of HD, and examined factors that may affect proxy ratings. A total of 105 patient–proxy pairs completed the Huntington’s disease health-related quality of life questionnaire (HDQoL) and other established HrQoL measures (EQ-5D and SF-12v2). Proxy–patient agreement was assessed in terms of absolute level (mean ratings) and intraclass correlation. Proxies’ ratings were at a similar level to patients’ self-ratings on an overall Summary Score and on most of the six Specific Scales of the HDQoL. On the Specific Hopes and Worries Scale, proxies on average rated HrQoL as better than patients’ self-ratings, while on both the Specific Cognitive Scale and Specific Physical and Functional Scale proxies tended to rate HrQoL more poorly than patients themselves. The patient’s disease stage and mental wellbeing (SF-12 Mental Component scale) were the two factors that primarily affected proxy assessment. Proxy scores were strongly correlated with patients’ self-ratings of HrQoL, on the Summary Scale and all Specific Scales. The patient–proxy correlation was lower for patients at moderate stages of HD compared to patients at early and advanced stages. The proxy report version of the HDQoL is a useful complementary tool to self-assessment, and a promising alternative when individual patients with advanced HD are unable to self-report.

TL;DR: In this article, the server proxy device evaluates the request for presence of information that indicates that the client proxy device is able to obtain redirect instructions to access the file, and if the evaluating indicates the request includes the information, the proxy device requests and receives identifier information associated with the URL from the server.
Abstract: Techniques are provided for receiving a request from a client proxy device to access a file on a server. The file is associated with a uniform resource locator (URL). In response to receiving the request, the server proxy device evaluates the request for presence of information that indicates that the client proxy device is able to obtain redirect instructions to access the file. When the evaluating indicates that the request includes the information, the server proxy device requests and receives identifier information associated with the URL from the server. The server proxy device retrieves from a database stored identifier information associated with the URL to compare it to the stored identifier information associated with the URL. When there is a match, the redirect instructions are sent to the client proxy device instructing the client proxy device to retrieve the file directly from the server.

TL;DR: This article employed firm-specific announcements as a proxy for information flows and investigated the information-volatility relation using high-frequency data from the Australian Stock Exchange, revealing a positive and significant impact of the arrival rate of the selected news variable on the conditional variance of stock returns.
Abstract: This study employs firm-specific announcements as a proxy for information flows and investigates the information-volatility relation using high-frequency data from the Australian Stock Exchange. Our analysis reveals a positive and significant impact of the arrival rate of the selected news variable on the conditional variance of stock returns, even after controlling for the potential effects of trading volume and high opening volatility. Furthermore, the inclusion of the news variable in the conditional variance equation of the generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedastic model also reduces volatility persistence, especially with intraday data. Combined with the evidence that news arrivals display a very strong pattern of autocorrelation, our results are consistent with the Mixture of Distribution Hypothesis, which attributes conditional heteroscedasticity of stock returns to time-dependence in the news arrival process.

TL;DR: In this paper, a bi-directional relationship manager is described for setting a new reference value for managing bi-irectional relationships between objects in an object model, which is based on the relationship information between objects having one or more relationships.
Abstract: A bi-directional relationship manager is described for setting a new reference value for managing bi-directional relationships between objects in an object model. The bi-directional relationship manager receives bi-directional relationship information indicating interrelation between objects having one or more bi-directional relationships. It creates proxy objects based on the bi-directional relationship information for selected bi-directional relationship objects having bi-directional relationships. A created proxy object receives a new reference value to be set in a selected object relating to a bi-directional relationship. It determines, using one or more of the proxy objects, a new peer value to be set in a peer object which has the bi-directional relationship with the selected object, and sets the new peer value to a proxy object created for the peer object. It may also update reference values of other related objects that are related to the selected object through one or more bi-directional relationships to reflect the change in references.
