TL;DR: In this article, a proxy computer that acts on the behalf of a seller computer receives product inventory information and one or more inventory control rules provided by the seller computer, and in response to an availability request provided by a user, the proxy computer may determine product availability information based on the product inventory, and the control rules.
Abstract: Methods and systems consistent with certain aspects related to the invention provide product availability information to a requestor via a proxy computer. In one aspect, a proxy computer that acts on the behalf of a seller computer receives product inventory information and one or more inventory control rules provided by the seller computer. In response to an availability request provided by a user, the proxy computer may determine product availability information based on the product inventory information and the one or more inventory control rules. Further, the proxy computer may be configured to update at the product inventory information and/or one or more control rules based on a determination that the seller computer has updated the same information stored in a database.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined whether managers temporarily alter the frequency and tone of their disclosures during proxy contests, and found that disclosure news is more positive during the proxy contest relative to the post-contest period.
Abstract: Using a unique, hand-gathered sample of 893 forward-looking voluntary disclosures by 70 proxy contest firms during 1992–2001, we examine whether managers temporarily alter the frequency and tone of their disclosures during proxy contests. Broadly consistent with the corporate control contest hypothesis, we find that, after controlling for performance and other determinants of disclosure, managers increase the frequency of forward-looking voluntary disclosures during the proxy contest relative to the pre-proxy period. After the proxy contest is resolved, managers decrease forward-looking voluntary disclosures. We also find that, after controlling for earnings-based performance and concurrent period stock returns, the voluntary forward-looking disclosure news is more positive, on average, during proxy contests relative to the pre-contest period. In addition, we find limited evidence that disclosure news is more positive during proxy contests relative to the post-contest period, suggesting that the more positive tone of the disclosures during proxy contests is temporary. Our results are robust to alternative estimation methods that model the endogeneity of the proxy contest event and to controlling for management tenure and turnover. In summary, proxy contest voluntary disclosure behavior is consistent with increased incentives to convince shareholders that managers are in control of the operating environment and to signal that poor past performance is transitory.

TL;DR: Inspired by Boneh, Boyen's technique and Waters' technique, a new proxy multi-signature scheme without random oracles is proposed, whose unforgeability can be tightly reduced to the CDH assumption in bilinear groups.

09 Apr 2004TL;DR: In this article, a node includes several devices including a memory, an active device, and an interface configured to send and receive coherency messages on an inter-node network coupling the node to another node, as well as an address network that communicates address packets between the devices.
Abstract: A node includes several devices including a memory, an active device, and an interface configured to send and receive coherency messages on an inter-node network coupling the node to another node, as well as an address network that communicates address packets between the devices. In response to receiving a coherency message that requests an access right to a coherency unit, the interface sends a proxy packet on the address network. In response to the proxy packet, the memory sends the interface data corresponding to the coherency unit and an indication of the global access state of the coherency unit within the node if the global access state is not the modified state. Otherwise, the memory sends an additional proxy packet on the address network. If the active device is the owner of the coherency unit, the active device ignores the proxy packet and responds to the additional proxy packet.
