TL;DR: In this paper, a large capacity, self-propelled walk-behind power tool, such as a lawn mower, employs gear-operated transmissions for independently driving each drive wheel.
Abstract: A large capacity, self-propelled walk-behind power tool, such as a lawn mower, employs gear-operated transmissions for independently driving each drive wheel. Control handles are connected to idler pulley levers and brake levers to control the movement of the driving wheels. A constant input rate to the control handles results in a variable output rate to the idler pulley levers and the brake levers.

TL;DR: In this article, a motorized lawn mowing machine has a generally horizontal deck with an engine releasably mounted thereon, and a vertical drive shaft driven by the engine protrudes through an opening in the deck to mount a grass cutter blade thereon below the deck.
Abstract: A motorized lawn mowing machine has a generally horizontal deck with an engine releasably mounted thereon. A vertical drive shaft driven by the engine protrudes through an opening in the deck to mount a grass cutter blade thereon below the deck. A releasably mounted adaptor plate is mounted on the deck between the engine and deck, the plate having an opening for passing the shaft and having radially extending extension arm mechanism with parallel arms projecting radially at a sidewisely forward angle. The plate houses a first pulley fixed to rotate with the shaft at the level of the arms. The arm mechanism slideably supports a vertical flail assembly having an upper second pulley in alignment with the first pulley. An endless belt drive member is trained around the pulleys, and manipulatable mechanism is connected to slide the vertical flail device on the arm mechanism to engage and tauten the endless member to rotate the flail assembly.

TL;DR: In this paper, a self-contained traction device for pelvic or cervical spine traction which can be placed on an ordinary bed is disclosed, where a platform with an upwardly inclined surface is used for elevating a portion of a patient's body.
Abstract: A self-contained traction device for pelvic or cervical spine traction which can be placed on an ordinary bed is disclosed. A platform with an upwardly inclined surface is used for elevating a portion of a patient's body. A strap is attached to the portion of the patient's body to which traction is to be applied, and the other end of the strap is attached to a cable which passes over a pulley attached to the far end of the platform. The far end of the cable on the other side of the pulley is attached to a weight which provides the traction force. Because the weight is directly attached through the pulley to the platform against which the patient rests, the horizontal forces exerted by the patient's body upon being pulled by the strap are cancelled by the horizontal forces applied by the weight through the pulley to the platform so that movement of the traction device across the bed is prevented without the need for restraining it to a bed frame or the like.

TL;DR: In this paper, a two-wheeled synchronously driven bicycle is described, consisting of a frame, a rear wheel, a front wheel, and a foot powered drive unit for the rear and front wheels.
Abstract: A two wheel, synchronously driven bicycle is disclosed as comprising a frame, a rear wheel, a front wheel, a foot powered drive unit for said rear and front wheels, a fork member whereby the front wheel is rotatably mounted on the frame, the foot power drive unit mounted on the frame having first and second sprockets coupled to be rotatably driven by the foot powered unit, the rear wheel having a third sprocket connected thereto, the front wheel having a fourth sprocket connected thereto, first and second endless belts or chains respectively interconnecting the first sprocket and the third sprocket of the rear wheel, and the second sprocket and the fourth sprocket of the front wheel, and a pair of pulleys mounted on a steering post of the fork member for receiving leading and trailing portions of the second belt and for directing the belt from the second sprocket to the fourth sprocket of said front wheel in a manner to permit steering of the front wheel and to avoid interference of the second belt with the frame.

TL;DR: In this article, the problem of obtaining a substrate treatment equipment with a substrate-carrying transfer mechanism wherein the stroke of an arm is loNg, an operating region of a movable part is small and an arm warps and vibrates only slightly.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a substrate treatment equipment with a substrate-carrying transfer mechanism wherein the stroke of an arm is loNg, an operating region of a movable part is small and an arm warps and vibrates only slightly. SOLUTION: When a pulley PU4 is driven by a motor built in a head 24 and rotates in one direction, a boom 42 connected to a belt BE goes ahead in an AB direction and protrudes from the head 24. When the boom 42 protrudes from the head 24, the belt BE put on a pulley PU1 of the bottom 42 also rotates, since it is fixed to the side of the head 24 via a stopping member 47, and a holder member 41 connected to the belt BE goes ahead to the AB direction and protrudes from the boom 42. As a result, the holder member 41 moves to a position of a solid line, wherein the transfer arm 40 is expanded most.
