TL;DR: In this article, a flexible drive loop is attached to the follower, which is driven by a bi-directional drive unit that includes a reversible electric motor, an electromagnetic clutch and a drive wheel.
Abstract: A vehicle has a power operated liftgate and at least one power unit comprising a fixed linear guide channel and a follower that moves in the guide channel. The follower is universally connected to a rod having at one end and the opposite end of the rod is universally connected to the vehicle lift gate. A flexible drive loop which is attached to the follower wraps part way around two pulleys at opposite ends of the guide channel. The flexible drive loop is driven by a bi-directional drive unit that includes a reversible electric motor, an electromagnetic clutch and a drive wheel that engages the flexible drive loop. The flexible drive loop may be a drive cable, a drive tape, or a drive chain or a combination of cable, tape and/or chain.

TL;DR: An archery bow with an improved construction for reducing the holding force at the end of the draw, the bow having a non-flexing handle portion and flexing limbs extending therefrom with pulley means a bow string passing over each eccentric pulley and said concentric pulleys to assure equality of motion of said eccentric pulleys as the arrow is drawn to a release position.
Abstract: An archery bow with an improved construction for reducing the holding force at the end of the draw, the bow having a non-flexing handle portion and flexing limbs extending therefrom with pulley means eccentrically mounted at each end of the handle portion with concentric pulleys at the ends of the flexing limbs and a bowstring passing over each said eccentric pulley and said concentric pulleys to assure equality of motion of said eccentric pulleys as the arrow is drawn to a release position.

TL;DR: In this article, a dual adjustable pulley system with a primary cable and a series of directional pulleys is described. But the primary cable has a handle connected to its first end and its second end is fixed with respect to an exercise movement.
Abstract: An exercise machine having a frame, weight stack, pulleys, and cables and incorporating a dual adjustable pulley system is disclosed. The weight stack is slidably connected to the frame. A primary moveable pulley system is engaged with the weight stack by way of a primary cable. The primary cable has a handle connected to its first end and its second end is fixed with respect to an exercise movement. A series of directional pulleys are also engaged with the primary cable. The directional pulleys are positioned on the frame to allow for an exerciser to perform multiple exercises employing the weight stack. A secondary moveable pulley system is engaged with the primary moveable pulley system. The secondary moveable pulley system can be selectively engaged with the weight stack using a releasable coupler. A secondary cable is functionally engaged with the secondary moveable pulley system and a number of directional pulleys. The secondary cable has a first end that is fixed to a floating pulley. The floating pulley is functionally engaged with the primary cable. The secondary cable has second end that selectively engages the weight stack. The relationship between the primary moveable pulley system and the secondary moveable pulley system is such that when the handle is moved in an exercise motion, the weight stack provides resistance to the exercise motion.

TL;DR: An unweighting system as mentioned in this paper includes a frame, a pair of front pulleys, a rear pulley, a first cable, and a second cable, which are coupled with a user to unload a portion of the user's weight as the user exercises on the exercise device.
Abstract: An unweighting system includes a frame, a pair of front pulleys, a pair of rear pulleys, a first cable, and a second cable. The frame is configured to be attached to or placed at least partially around an exercise device and includes a front portion and a rear portion. The pair of front pulleys is coupled to the front portion. The pair of rear pulleys is coupled to the rear portion. A first cable passes through a first of the pair of front pulleys and through a first of the pair of rear pulleys. A second cable passes through a second of the pair of front pulleys and through a second of the pair of rear pulleys. The first and second cables are configured to couple with a user to unload a portion of the user's weight as the user exercises on the exercise device.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an apparatus and method of assembling a block and tackle counter balance for windows that reduces the cost of manufacture and installation. But this method requires the assembly of a top shoe for insertion into one end of a semi-rigid channel, and a bottom shoe for inserting into another end of the channel.
Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus and method of assembling a block and tackle counter balance for windows that reduces the cost of manufacture and installation. In particular, the balance provides vertical support to a window sash using a semi-rigid channel, a top shoe for insertion into one end of the semi-rigid channel, and a bottom shoe for insertion into another end of the semi-rigid channel. Connected to the top shoe is a spring, and a block and tackle pulley assembly is connected between the bottom end of the spring and the bottom shoe, wherein a cord from the pulley assembly extends outward from the bottom shoe for connection to the window sash.
