TL;DR: A physical exercising device with a handle to be grasped by an exercising person is defined in this article, where an elongate frame is composed of a vertical stem having an upper part and a top member extending away from the top part, and the attachment points are disposed along the vertical stem and the top member.
Abstract: A physical exercising device having a handle to be grasped by an exercising person; an elongate frame having a plurality of attachment points disposed along the frame; an elastic resistance member having one end attached to the frame and another end; a fixed pulley fixedly attached to the frame and a detachable pulley detachably connectable to any one of said attachment points; a flexible wire threaded through the fixed pulley and the detachable pulley, having a first part in operative engagement with the other end of the elastic resistance member, and another part of the wire attachable to the handle for manually applying a stretching force to the elastic resistance member by the exercising person. The physical exercising device wherein the frame is composed of a vertical stem having an upper part and a top member extending away from the top part, and wherein the attachment points are disposed along the vertical stem and the top member. The physical exercising device may further include a floating third pulley attached to the other end of the elastic resistance member, and wherein the first part of the wire is threaded through the third pulley, and the flexible wire has a distal end away from the part of the wire attached to the handle, the distal end of the wire being fixedly attached to the frame for increasing the stretching force. The physical exercising device may include in the elastic resistance member at least one strand of elastic rubber or a coil spring P.

TL;DR: In this article, the primary variable-pitch pulley is mounted on an intermediate shaft which is adapted to be freely rotatable and arranged coaxially with an input shaft connected with the turbine runner of the fluid coupling.
Abstract: A continuously-variable speed automatic transmission, comprising a fluid coupling, a belt drive transmission means including a primary variable-pitch pulley, a secondary variable-pitch pulley and a belt interconnecting the primary and the secondary variable-pitch pulley and capable of attaining continuously-variable speed drive, and a change-direction gear train. The primary variable-pitch pulley is mounted on an intermediate shaft which is adapted to be freely rotatable and arranged coaxially with an input shaft connected with the turbine runner of the fluid coupling. The secondary variable-pitch pulley is mounted on the output shaft of the transmission, which is supported on the housing of the transmission rotatably and in parallel with the intermediate shaft. The change-direction gear train is connected at the input end thereof with the input shaft and at the output end thereof with the intermediate shaft. A clutch means for rotatively connecting the input shaft and the intermediate shaft is formed within the fixed pulley flange of the primary variable-pitch pulley of the belt drive transmission means.

TL;DR: In this article, a stepper motor is used to convert rotary motion of a pulley driven by a magnetic head into linear motion with respect to a record, and a flexible metal band is attached to the driven pulley, the ends of the band extending tangent to the pulley and parallel to each other.
Abstract: A device or mechanism which converts rotary motion into linear motion. The mechanism is well adapted for converting rotary movement of a pulley which is driven by a stepper motor responsive to signals from a computer into linear motion of a magnetic head. The magnetic head is mounted on guides for linear movement with respect to a record. A flexible metal band is wrapped around and attached to the driven pulley, the ends of the band extending tangent to the pulley and parallel to each other, the ends being secured to the block or carriage carrying the magnetic head. Angular movement of the pulley tends to unwrap one end portion of the band and to wrap the other portion thereby moving the block carrying the head linearly.

TL;DR: In this paper, a belt tensioning device includes a resilient coupling which interconnects an idler pulley hub and a stationary mounting member to prevent the belt from overcoming the biasing force of the device during high belt loads.
Abstract: A belt tensioning device includes a resilient coupling which interconnects an idler pulley hub and a stationary mounting member. A ratchet and pawl mechanism interconnects the hub and the stationary mounting member to prevent the belt from overcoming the biasing force of the tensioning device during high belt loads. A resilient biasing element such as an elastomeric element is located between the ratchet and pawl mechanism and the stationary mounting member to allow limited movement of the idler pulley hub away from a belt in order to relieve belt tension such as caused during thermal expansion of an engine block.

TL;DR: In this paper, an improvement in the cooling efficiency of an air cooling and vent device for use with a belt drive type power transmission for an all terrain vehicle was presented, where cooling air introduced into the belt drive casing by an air suction fan built integrally with a drive pulley of the transmission is forced out of the air outlet provided in the middle position between the drive and a driven pulley to the atmosphere by the suction effect of a cooling fan.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improvement in the cooling efficiency of an air cooling and vent device for use with a belt drive type power transmission for an all terrain vehicle, wherein cooling air introduced into a belt drive casing by an air suction fan built integrally with a drive pulley of the transmission is forced out of an air outlet provided in the middle position between the drive pulley and a driven pulley to the atmosphere by the suction effect of a cooling fan of the engine.
