TL;DR: A quiet drapery pull system includes an elongated track that receives a master car and auxiliary cars as discussed by the authors, and the track defines a pair of curved surfaces for nested receipt of roller members of the cars to facilitate linear tracking of cars.
Abstract: A quiet drapery pull system includes an elongated track that receives a master car and auxiliary cars. The track defines a pair of curved surfaces for nested receipt of roller members of the cars to facilitate linear tracking of the cars. The cars preferably include tires that are made from a resilient material to limit noises caused by rolling contact and by slipping and dragging of the tires upon contact with surface imperfections of the track. The drapery pull system preferably includes a drive belt connected to a reversible motor and to the master car for driving the master car in each of opposite directions. The drive belt is preferably made from a resilient material to limit noise associated with contact between the drive belt and drive pulley and between the belt and the track.

TL;DR: In this article, an elevator car door operator includes a drive motor, a drive pulley mounted for rotation by the drive motor and a continuous loop drive belt mounted on an idler pulley at the other end of the belt.
Abstract: An elevator car door operator includes a drive motor, a drive pulley mounted for rotation by the drive motor, a continuous loop drive belt mounted on the drive pulley at one end of the belt and on an idler pulley at the other end of the belt, a drive bar connected to the drive belt and slidably mounted on a bar guide for translational movement across the elevator car door header. One or more doors are slidably mounted on guide tracks for movement between open and closed positions. One of the doors is either connected directly to the drive bar, or connected to a two-to-one relating cable mounted on the drive bar, so that the motion of the drive bar is transmitted to that door, thereby slidably positioning the door as the drive bar is slidably positioned by the belt along the length of the bar guide.

TL;DR: In this paper, an under-actuated prosthetic hand capable of reproducing a hand grasping function was presented, where the hand was provided with an interphalangeal drive mechanism and a thumb drive mechanism in a palm.
Abstract: The invention discloses an under-actuated prosthetic hand capable of reproducing a hand grasping function; the under-actuated prosthetic hand is provided with an interphalangeal drive mechanism and a thumb drive mechanism in a palm; finger bodies take pulleys as main parts, and transmission mechanisms arranged in fingers are sequentially and alternately wound on all the pulleys of the fingers by steel wire ropes; joints in the fingers are in flexible coupling by elastic components; the interphalangeal drive mechanism adopts two motors to drive four fingers and multiple degrees of freedom of the fingers in a synergetic way; a thumb body takes a pulley as a main part, the transmission mechanisms in the finger bodies take transmission ropes as transmission mediums, the interphalangeal drive mechanism adopts a gear component for transmission matching, and the four degrees of freedom of the thumb can be controlled by two motors. After the under-actuated prosthetic hand is adopted, self-adaptive grasping of various objects can be accurately completed, and the rich grasping operation function of a human hand can be reproduced; the under-actuated prosthetic hand has the characteristics of being compact in structure, smaller in size, lighter in weight, convenient to control, accurate in grasping action, and the like.

TL;DR: An automatic door operator for swing doors which uses a worm gear transmission to connect the motor to a belt and pulley which in turn is connected to a spur gear and drive gear is described in this article.
Abstract: An automatic door operator for swing doors which uses a worm gear transmission to connect the motor to a belt and pulley which in turn is connected to a spur gear and drive gear. The door arm of the swing door is connected to a double-ended shaft which is part of the drive gear. A rack and pinion gear and spring are used to provide the closing force to the door arm. The motor is mounted over the spring and the belt and pulleys are located alongside the motor which results in a compact non-handed design.

TL;DR: In this article, a three-dimensional finite element model was built to study V-ribbed belt pulley contact mechanics, which consists of a pulley and a segment of Vribbed belts in contact with the pulley.
Abstract: A three-dimensional finite element model was built to study V-ribbed belt pulley contact mechanics. The model consists of a pulley and a segment of V-ribbed belt in contact with the pulley. A material model for the belt, including the rubber compound and the reinforcing cord is developed. Rubber is modeled as hyperelastic material. The hyperelastic strain energy function is approximated by neural network trained by rubber test data. Reinforcing cord is modeled as elastic rebar. The material model developed is implemented in the commercial finite element code ABAQUS to simulate the V-ribbed belt-pulley system. A study is then conducted to investigate the effect of belt pulley system parameters on the contact mechanics. The effects of temperature and aging on belt materials are also investigated. The information gained from the analysis can be applied to optimize V-ribbed belt and pulley design.
