TL;DR: In this paper, an apparatus for controlling a magnetic particle clutch for use of a vehicle is described, which is provided between an engine and a belt type continuously varible transmission, and is designed to commence to slip before a torque transmitting belt commences to slip on the pulleys of the continuously variable transmission.
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling a magnetic particle clutch for use of a vehicle. The magnetic particle clutch is provided between an engine and a belt type continuously varible transmission, and is designed to commence to slip before a torque transmitting belt commences to slip on the pulleys of the continuously variable transmission.

TL;DR: A separator for blow-molded parts, which separator includes a plurality of endless belts movably supported between a pair of horizontally spaced pulleys, one of which is a drive pulley as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A separator for blow-molded parts, which separator includes a plurality of endless belts movably supported between a pair of horizontally spaced pulleys, one of which is a drive pulley. The belts, preferably of circular cross section, have upper reaches extending in approximately parallel but sidewardly spaced relationship to define small gaps therebetween through which scrap parts can pass. The other parts remain on the belt and are transported to a discharge location. The adjacent belts are preferably driven at slightly different speeds to facilitate agitation and dislodgement of scrap parts so that they can move into and through the gaps. The ends of the belts are supported by rotatable end idler pulleys, alternate ones of which preferably have exterior belt-engaging profiles which are noncircular relative to the rotational axis to effect cyclic vertical displacement of the upper reaches of alternate belts.

TL;DR: In this article, a multistage transmission has a plurality of gear stages and an additional gear stage which may be engaged to transmit part of the input shaft torque before disengagement of an engaged gear stage.
Abstract: A multistage transmission has a plurality of gear stages and an additional gear stage which may be engaged to transmit part of the input shaft torque before disengagement of an engaged gear stage. A friction clutch is used to engage the additional stage. Alternatively, a variable-ratio pulley connection may be used for the additional stage. Synchronization of the transmission input shaft with a gear stage to be engaged is attained by controlling the change in input shaft speed in accordance with a selected speed gradient.

TL;DR: In this article, an improved belt drive system and method for a power pant is presented, where the power transmission belt has spans defined by termination proximate to each of the pulleys.
Abstract: The invention is an improved belt drive system and method for a power pant. The power plant is of the type having a crankshaft pulley (24), an accessory pulley (18, 20, 22), a motor/generator pulley (14), a first belt tensioner (26), a first belt tensioner pulley (28), and a power transmission belts (30) trained about the crankshaft pulley, the accessory pulley, the motor/generator pulley, and the first belt tensioner pulley. The power transmission belt has spans defined by termination proximate to each of the pulleys. These spans include intermediate spans beginning at the crankshaft pulley and ending at the motor/generator pulley, following the direction of belt ravel in normal operation. The intermediate spans include a first intermediate span having a crankshaft termination proximate the crankshaft pulley and a last intermediate span having a first motor/generator termination proximate the motor/generator pulley. The system is improved by the power transmission belt also having a start-slack-side span beginning at the motor/generator pulley, following the direction of belt ravel in normal operation. The start-slack-side span has a second motor/generator termination proximate the motor/generator pulley and a downstream termination opposite of the second motor/generator termination. The system has the first tensioner pulley proximate a termination of an intermediate span not being either the crankshaft termination or the first motor/generator termination. The system also has a second tensioner pulley (29) proximate the downstream termination.

TL;DR: In this article, an endless belt of Teflon impregnated fiberglas is trained over idler pulleys to run along the overlapped edges and a heater device heats the belt and film to fuse the overlapping edges and cause them to adhere to each other.
Abstract: A tube former directs a web of unsupported polyethylene film into tubular form about a cylindrical mandrel with its longitudinal edges overlapping. An endless belt of Teflon impregnated Fiberglas is trained over idler pulleys to a run along the overlapped edges and a heater device heats the belt and film to fuse the overlapped edges and cause them to adhere to each other and to the belt so that the belt is pulled along as the tube is drawn along the mandrel. Cooling means then cools the belt and film and one of the idler pulleys strips the belt from the sealed tube. The heater is moved to and from the belt under the control of the cooling means.
