TL;DR: In this article, a continuous model of the steel pushing V-belt is proposed, which describes the shifting dynamics of the CVT transmission during rapid speed ratiovariations, and investigates the influence of the clearance among the steel segments on the belt dynamics.
Abstract: This paper proposes a one-dimensional continuous model of the steel pushing V-belt,which describes the shifting dynamics of the CVT transmission during rapid speed ratiovariations. The model investigates the influence of the clearance among the steel segmentson the belt dynamics. The plates and pulleys strain motion is neglected, with respect totheir rigid body motion, for the evaluation of the friction forces. The power transmissionis assured only if an active arc exists where the plates are pressed against each other andwhere compressive forces arise among the steel segments. Conversely on the idle arc thesteel plates are separated and no longitudinal compressive forces exist among the metalsegments. The paper shows a significant difference in dynamical behavior between thedrive and the driven pulley. Moreover, differences also exist between the pitch radiusincreasing phases and pitch radius decreasing phases. @DOI: 10.1115/1.1486015#

TL;DR: In this article, the mower is equipped with a pulley and a stationary belt which rapidly stops rotation of the shaft carrying the cutting blades, and when this braking system is functioning, the belt and pulley system connecting the engine with a drive pulley mounted on the same shaft is disconnected.
Abstract: The mower is equipped with a pulley and a stationary belt which rapidly stops rotation of the shaft carrying the cutting blades. When this braking system is functioning, the belt and pulley system connecting the engine with a drive pulley mounted on the same shaft is disconnected. When the braking system is released, the pulley system between the engine and the drive pulley is connected.

TL;DR: A belt tensioner has a shaft having an oil reservoir in a lower portion thereof and having an external thread and rotatably mounted in a body, a torsion spring provided between the body and the shaft so as to urge the shaft in a rotational direction, and a cylindrical rod having an internal thread engaged with the external thread of the shaft.
Abstract: A belt tensioner has a shaft having an oil reservoir in a lower portion thereof and having an external thread and rotatably mounted in a body, a torsion spring provided between the body and the shaft so as to urge the shaft in a rotational direction, and a cylindrical rod having an internal thread engaged with the external thread of the shaft. A lower end of the rod being projected from the body so as to be operatively connected to a tension pulley for a belt. The torsion spring and both the threads are arranged to project rod by the rotation of the shaft urged by the torsion spring. An oil passage is provided in the shaft so as to communicate the oil reservoir with the bore above the internal thread of the rod.

TL;DR: In this paper, a block-type heavy-duty power transmission V-belt including a large number of blocks fixedly engaged with tension members by fitting the tension members in fitting grooves formed on side faces of the blocks.
Abstract: A block-type heavy-duty power transmission V-belt including a large number of blocks fixedly engaged with tension members by fitting the tension members in fitting grooves formed on side faces of the blocks. In a reinforcing member embedded in each of the blocks, a beam angle between a vertical center line of an upper beam part disposed above the fitting groove and a pulley groove face closer to the center of a pulley than a portion of the pulley in contact with an upper contact part of the block is 90° or more. In this manner, to the base of the upper beam part is applied merely tensile stress derived from a shearing force working in a lengthwise direction of the belt between the block and the tension member, or tensile stress reduced correspondingly to compressive stress derived from downward bending moment applied to the upper beam part due to a reaction force from the pulley groove face. As a result, the stress applied to the base of the upper beam part can be reduced, so as to increase the transmission load of the belt without increasing the weight of each block.
