Abstract: A conveyor installation includes an endless belt wound around head and tail pulleys which extends between an impact station wherein material is placed on the belt and a drop off zone wherein the material is removed from the belt. Shock absorbers are disposed beneath the belt at the impact station to dissipate energy imparted on the belt by the material. In one embodiment, the belt is formed of flexible, textile reinforced material and the shock absorbers are in the form of a plurality of rectangular elements having a generally planar upper surface for supporting substantially the entire undersurface of the belt in the impact station. In another embodiment, the belt is formed of rigid steel reinforced material and the shock absorbers are in the form of a plurality of closely spaced rollers. In both embodiments, downstream of the impact station are located idler rollers for supporting the belt at spaced locations. The idler rollers are mounted on a support frame via shock absorbing elements in the form of rings. Each of the shock absorbing elements is formed of elastomeric material and has at least one passage formed therein and configured so that the body wall surrounding the passage is generally K-shaped in section and functions as a buckling element.

The tool (17) comprises a principal member (18) for attaching to a pulley, thus absorbing forces created during installing and removing belts, and simplifying the process. Separated installing (32) and removing (41) devices are secured to the principal member (18) and are configured to support and maneuver the belt (16) while installing onto, or removing from, the selected pulley (15).

Abstract: An orthosis includes a first portion and a second portion configured to attach on opposite sides of a joint. An actuator is configured to apply a force between the first and second portions. The actuator includes a first spool and a second spool rotatably mounted to the first portion. An output pulley is mounted to the second portion. A belt has a first end wrapped around the first spool, a second end wrapped around the second spool, and a mid-portion wrapped around the output pulley. The actuator is configured to rotate the first and second spools. The rotation of the first spool pulls the belt a given length, and the rotation of the second spool feeds the belt less than the given length, so as to pull the output pulley towards the first portion to pull the second portion towards the first portion.

Also the rotor can be formed as a shell of pulley ( 4 ) which is part of a vacuum belt conveyor comprising a stationary vacuum box ( 11 ), the rotor drive further including a non-rotatory shaft ( 1 ) supported by at least one supporting bracket ( 8 ) which is connected to the vacuum box.
